Great alien googly moogly!

Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders a brain-twisting Lucasfilm adventure classic, is available now on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux - for the first time in digital distribution - DRM-free on GOG.com

Following the immense success of Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders was the second adventure game ever released on the classic SCUMM engine. The two games share plenty of similarities, but there is no denying that for Zak McKracken development team, ambition and was the name of the game. You'll control four characters, complete multi-pathed puzzles, and travel all over the globe. The game's unique cash mechanic comes into play here: your plane tickets cost money, you'll actually have to buy the items you might need (not just, well, steal 'em), and you'll even end up with a phone bill you may or may not want to pay off at some point. Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders is an early Lucasfilm adventure - we do recommend tackling it with a walkthrough on-hand, lest you run out of cash, or air, on Mars, and die - but it's also a chance to experience one of adventure's earliest and biggest classics.

Relive adventure history and save the world from dumbifying alien lasers in Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders, available right here for the first time in digital distribution!
So close to Maniac Mansion but not quite, hopefully it will be coming. In the mean time, i'll be diving into this and the other Lucasarts releases.
The first FM Towns release for GOG! Unless there's a PC release I'm not aware of with improved graphics that is.
I was unaware that there was a 256 colour version of this game. :O
Neat Release but the C64 version is the only version of Zak McKracken i need. :D
Is this really the 256 color version or the DOS version?
Yes, finaly the FM TOWNS release. :) Thank yoo GOG, this is the perfect gift for today :)

Really really? FM Towns? I'm going to get this today if so.
Nevermind I got two boxes of it for Amiga and one for C64.
I think this really could be the 256 colours version that originally was only released in Japan. O_O
Shit, I didn't even know this version. Sweet.
That is probably one of the most nostalgic games for me, and a must-buy
...
but no release discount? I gotta check my finances first, before I know if I can afford it at this moment. Really wished it would have been 30-50% off.
FM Towns version? Well I guess it's not impossible with the game running SCUMMVM, i've seen SCUMMVM run the Nintendo port of Maniac Mansion if I remember correctly.

I suspect that when Day of the Tentacle eventually comes, it'll be bundled with direct access to Maniac Mansion through ScummVM, given that the full Maniac Mansion game was available in DOTT anyway.

I can definitely confirm that ScummVM will run Maniac Mansion directly if you point it at the relevant directory within the DOTT folder of the disc version.

Yep, hoping for that or even MM by itself. That second part is good to know. :)
I played the Amiga version and the DOS version looked so crappy in comperison... But the FM Towns version would be great :)
