SmollestLight: Thanks for letting us know about the regional pricing, we will look into it!
Please look at all NISA's catalog. Right now GOG's prices are almost 3x steam's prices in Brazil, so it shouldn't be a change made by the publisher (at least until July 19).
Completely forgot that this was going to release today. Day 1 purchase.
DRM-free... consumable bundles?

Ummmm

Yeah

Nah

That's been a thing for all the more recent Falcom games. That said, they are completely and utterly unnecessary as they are little more than purchasable cheat/booster packs. Anyone who plays the games normally will have no use for them whatsoever.
low rated

I wouldn't say that's fully true. Yes you can get through the games without them. However, they do reduce the amount of time that one needs to spend repetitively grinding trash mobs, in order to level up and become strong enough to beat a hard boss, or things like that.

TomNuke: I looked at the Steam forum and there's a lot of complaining about regional pricing there also.
yeah, I've just seen it. It seems that the biggest issue with pricing is on Turky and Argentina. Too expensive on all storefronts in these countries.
I say I will wait for 4 years until the price is reasonable enough.

I'm patience.
Note that the soundtrack included in the $95 version is not the full soundtrack but just 15 tracks (you can get the full soundtrack from Falcom directly but it is rediculously expensive for what it is, about $35 plus shipping from Japan). I'd guess the artbook also isn't the full Japanese artbook but just a selection. I don't know anything about the prequel novel, but I doubt it is worth the $35 extra. The costume bundles usually don't go as well with the game as the ones that come with it. So even those who usually like to get the complete bundles should be happy with the base version.

Also, for anyone who cares about such things it is a bit under 7GB download so much less than Ys VIII (which is 16GB plus an optional 5+GB HQ texture pack). It sounds like it is quite a bit shorter than Ys VIII (might be better optimized as well) and one review mentioned that normal difficulty is on the easy side so anyone who has played Ys games before might want to start out on hard.

Happy to see this here with the rest of the Ys series, but as I can't afford it now, it stays on the wishlist. One day!

Turkey has a rampant inflation problem. I can fully understand kicking the local price there. I do not know about Argentina, maybe they have the same problem.

If I would be able exchange some Euro into turkish Lira and than buy that game with a turkish VPN address for a turkish local discount price... wow. I kind of understand that decision.:(

Nope, if I would live there I would not care about buying games anymore, would try to keep my money together to be able to pay my rent, feed my family and so on.

EDIT: sorry, no upgrade price of 20 Euro for the inclusion of the consumer bundle (the 30 Euro DLC price is a joke, too). The normal digital deluxe edtion must be enough for me today.

Foxhack: Why the hell is the base price $60 here in Mexico? I know NISA's desperate to make money, but at what cost?
If NISA is having money problems, then perhaps they should offer those easily-missed one-week exclusives for purchase to later customers. Their current practice is far worse than older style preorders. The window is much shorter, and its only strength - allowing the reading/watching of customer reviews before purchase - is something that could already be done with traditional preorders (some of which ran through the first week). Life events that distract someone for the week in question prevent them from getting the DLC, whereas before they would have had a several-month window to secure the purchase well ahead of time. The "never preorder" crowd and their simplistic mantra probably contributed to this change, but NISA is ultimately responsible and deserves whatever financial woes they're experiencing - I have no sympathy for a company that's actively made a bad industry practice (preorder exclusives) even worse.

Anyway... Ys VIII was quite good despite some flaws. Here's hoping this one measures up.

EDIT: Though it is not yet clear whether GoG will be affected as well as it is not mentioned in the article.
Fuckin' christ, $5=>$20 is quite the price hike! Thanks for the info, I'd better snag this while the gettings are good!

Thanks, GoG Nisa for bringing this over, hopefully, we'll be able to enjoy your entire collection, we can never have too many JRPGs!

EDIT: Also, thanks to Falcom for including the Japanese voiceovers, I just saw a playthrough, and holy fuckin' hell, do the English voice work suck magnificently!

Question about the "free until July 13th DLCs": are they only available if you buy the game until that date or can they be purchased separately later?
