Fun right off the bat!

Yooka-Laylee, the delightful action/platformer starring a chatty bat and a cute chameleon, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy achievements.

The world's literature is in need of some good old-fashioned saving and there are only two creatures that can pull this off: Yooka (the loveable lizard thing) and Laylee (the talkative bat)! In their grand adventure, the duo will cross paths with a cast of oddball characters, including an evil-looking duck, an entrepreneurial snake in trousers, and a certain Knight that everybody digs.

Designed as a spiritual successor to beloved platformers of yore like the Donkey Kong Country games and Banjo-Kazooie, and developed by a team consisting of several alumni of these classics, Yooka-Laylee carries many of their signature sensibilities and offbeat humor. You will explore vast and beautiful worlds, combine the duo's unique powers, and overcome imaginative puzzles and platforming challenges, trying to stop Capital B's malevolent plans. Scooping up the crazy collectibles scattered all over the place might be a good start in that direction.

Hop on with Yooka-Laylee and prepare to spread colorful mischief across more than five worlds full of platforming goodness, DRM-free on GOG.com. Or crank the cuteness factor up to eleven with the Deluxe Edition, which includes the soundtrack and a wonderful artbook.

Barry_Woodward: I was finally able to redeem the backer key. Alas, no Toybox DLC. :(

Edit: It looks like the preorder link is still up.

I'm so OCD about my GOG collection that I'm actually considering buying it again just for the Toybox DLC, but since I've already redeemed the backer key, I'm not sure how that would work. Can any GOG blues hook me up so I don't have to drop an additional 40 bucks?
The Toybox DLC is really only available with the pre-order? Alas I'm another completionist and would want everything that's available.

It just pisses me off that I had the ultimate preorder and yet have been shafted. I specifically preordered so I could get everything on GOG. To get everything now on my account I have to drop $39.99 for the preorder (while it lasts) just for the Toybox DLC and $9.99 for the deluxe edition content which I should have received as a key redeemable on GOG.

This is... unfortunate. I'm with you on this one. I redeemed my deluxe backer key a couple days ago only to be just as disappointed that there's no Toybox and that the deluxe content would have to be purchased again to have it on GOG. Technically I can access all that between the Steam Toybox and the Backerkit deluxe content, but it doesn't seem right that by backing this game years ago I essentially get a lesser, piecemeal product.
I just bout the game using the preorder link and the Toybox still came with it. Not sure how long that will last.
Not gonna lie, this game is not up my alley. It's navigation sent it to the wrong alley.

I just did as well for fear of the DLC not being available later. I'm sure it will be added as an item purchasable later, but I didn't want to risk it. It appears that the DLC still gets added to the library.

I'm really intrigued by this game. I'm probably going to wait for a sale, though.

Now, I can't help but notice that someone is currently streaming Bayonetta 1 over Yooka-Laylee, because and I quote, "because Yooka Laylee sucks a fat one", any insights on that?

Protip: Don't shoot the messenger. Blame TieTuesday and Voidburger for that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63M3LyuSzPM

Just to be that guy, the steam bans, backer bans, and jontron issue has me in boycott mode. I don't think ti's fair until at least someone mentions it.

I must agree, any developer that removes a voice actor because they don't like his political views is certainly not getting any of my money, regardless of what those views consisted of.

The whole JonTron thing was blown out of proportion and misunderstood. Heck. his parents are immigrants. The developers of Yooka-Laylee should have done their homework before removing JonTron. Not interested in the game anyway.

This wasn't even about JonTron's political views, the guy was accused of being a white supremacist when he would not even qualify as being "white" by most white supremacist standards. It was a small cabal of mainstream media "journalists" and SJWs pointing fingers, and both developer and publisher cut John off without hesitation. Judge, jury and executioner all in one, no questions asked.
Snake Pass is a much better game.

Even if he were, they're making political stances trying to avoid politics. The terrible thing about politics is, the more you try to avoid it, the deeper you end up in it. These developers were, clearly, terrified of it, so they kick a guy out, then when backers say that they can no longer support a game that is playing politics with a fan like that, they go and do a fairly authoritarian thing: they ban and silence those who had an opinion that didn't agree with theirs. Steam gives them the power to ban trolls and troublemakers, not people with differing opinions.

I fear this could happen with gog, too.
