Broke down, bought it. Played it for about an hour multiplayer and half-an-hour singleplayer.

Singleplayer is kind of dull. There's no plot, no direction, just aimless wandering, much like Elite. You take on a job to ferry passengers from one island to another, carry some cargo, upgrade your ship. There's no overarching narrative other than what you make up yourself.

Multiplayer is a little more fun. With a lot of players it could be really cool, but even with just one or two it adds a lot, as you team up to siege towns and share in the risks and rewards when you both have to go in the same direction.

I just wish it were deeper. The leveling is bland and simple and the ship upgrades are sort of boring. Combat consists of going in circles, using one or two specials, letting them recharge, and running away if you're badly damaged.

The best comparison I can make is to the original Elite, but with pirates in the Caribbean. It's shallow, a bit disappointing, and despite being pretty (and having excellent music) it ends up being no more deep than a typical Flash game.
Looks nice, wishlisted until I see how it plays SP and whats the deal with MP.
Thanks!

No narrative, no interest. :l
Definitely sounds like more of multi/co op release. Doesnt sound like singleplayer has much of a pulse.
Will be good for some but a lot of us will pass :/
Hm, the single player could have been improved maybe if they would have detailed the sailing more. A good sailing simulation is definitely missing.

I think I'll pass as well.. Don't really have time at the moment to get into a multiplayer game and I'm not going to rush in just to get 35% off now.

op2015: Yes! That is the title of the old Psygnosis arcade game with the pirate ship.

IronArcturus: Psygnosis!

They've made a ton of great games! Wouldn't it be nice if GOG could get or [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/gpolice]G-Police?
Wow, yes, it would be really nice. The had many Amiga games, but also nice games for DOS and Windows until Sony buyed them. However, they still released some PC games in that time.

- Wipeout (there are at least 2 games for DOS and Windows)
- Atomino
- Lemmings series
- Ecstatica series
- Novastorm (beautifull prerendered GFX)
- Destruction Derby
- Guilty/Innocent Until Caught
- Pyrotechnica
- Destruction Derby
- Discworld series
- Krazy Ivan
- Attack of the Saucerman
- Rollcage series
- Lifeforce Tenka
- Shadow Master
- Metal Fatigue

... and many moooooore :)
nvm sorry for the bump

the "cancel" button and "post my message" button are indeed close :)

Just played it for a while, but it seems nice. Looking forward to playing it with a friend!
I've been looking for a straightforward MP game to play with friends, so this sounds perfect.
