Tales from the Tiers, a DLC that offers new items and sidequests, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Fatebinder, the unruly Tiers once again require your problem-solving prowess if they are to know some semblance of order. Resolve new map events, encounters, side stories, and misguided ambushes to gain new items and new insights into the world shaped by Kyros' powerful magic.

Tyranny has now also been updated with a free patch, which adds a New Game Plus mode for those who want to keep exploring other paths of your story.

Tyranny is now -50% for the duration of the Summer Sale.
A new DLC by Paradox, the company that just raised their (already expensive) prices for most regions worldwide (including some very poor ones) "to make our prices match the purchasing power of those areas"???

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Please ask me again when your games are at least 90% off.

Dilbertus: So does the current copy of Tyranny on GOG have this new patch or is it something Coming Soon?
The linux version in my library is from 13.6.2017, changelong: "Game+". So already up here.

Tarhiel: Wait, story is not finished?

227: Imagine if Baldur's Gate 2 ended after you get Imoen back. It's kind of like that; a smaller plot thread is resolved, but the bigger, more interesting one blatantly built up to throughout the game is left for the sequel. Or later DLC. Or who knows what.

I suppose it comes down to how one defines "finished." Personally, it was nails-on-a-chalkboard irritating finding out that it'd take however many extra years and however much extra money to actually have my lingering questions answered.
Well, if it is like you said, then I can only add: my words exactly.
This is disappointing and I truly hope that instead of sequel I´d rather see DLC - for FREE, since the game was already expensive enough.

Hope Obsidian won´t do any more publishing business with Paradox.

I actually posted the same sentiment on the FIG website for Pillars of Eternity 2 and got shouted down for having the audacity to pubically say as such. I like Obsidian a lot as a developer, but greatly dislike Paradox as a publisher. Sorry Obsidian but I can no longer look past Paradox's actions despite how I feel for you as a developer. I'll consider your offerings once you're no longer hobbled by Paradox. You've made a very poor choice of publishers. Hindsight's 20/20 I guess?...

227: "I know we didn't finish the main story and left it on a huge, sudden cliffhanger, but please give us more money for random side content we made instead."
This, except unlike many in the thread, I blame Obsidian, not Paradox.

As a kid, I was crushed every time I finished a story, especially a "classic" that I knew would never get a sequel. I'm all for moar and better DLC until the end of time, but finish the fucking game.
I don't dislike DLC's or expansions per se. I'm happy to buy them on day one if they really add new areas and story. I did this with Pillars of Eternity and wasn't a bit disappointed.

However, what I really dislike is the mixing of new stuff with base game updates hidden behind a paywall.

Looking at the features of the "Tales from the Tiers" DLC, I feel like 2/3 of the content should have been in the base game from the beginning or added for free afterwards. Many people will probably agree that the base game falls short both on companion events/quests and story depth.

The "Bastard's Wound" expansions seems to add new areas/story which I like and am willing to pay for. Still we get to experience base game companion quests only with the expansion.

In the end this leads to having to pay for nearly every DLC and expansion to at least get a complete base game experience.

In the vein of EU4 etc., Pardox will also point out with every DLC/expansion that they made a great free update to the base game (probably to make us more comfortable hitting the 100€+ full experience mark), yet they hide basic stuff behind the paywall.
People still buy Paradox titles. The DLC policy is nothing short of obscene but they still buy them (Oh, the justification, I've heard them all over the past couple of years). A few people whinge every time yet another DLC is released (how many across all their publications now?) and they still buy them.

Johan and Co. must be laughing out loud -with no pretense of caring for the customer by now - there essentially IS one born every minute.

I await their over-reach/downfall with great pleasure.

Personally I buy Paradox titles because I love the grand strategy genre, and they're pretty much the only ones who make those.

I tend to either pass on the DLC or wait until it's heavily discounted though. They're not exactly forcing you to buy the DLC after all, and I can overlook their shitty business model based on exploiting consumers to an extent considering how much fun I've had playing Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis.

That being said, Tyranny was pretty disappointing imo, and I simply have no interest in buying any kind of DLC or expansion pack for it.

Far from the only ones. Have you not heard of or [url=http://www.matrixgames.com/]Matrix Games previously?

I looked those up a while ago actually, but they only seem to make wargames, not grand strategy titles. They're completely different genres, you can easily "win" in CK 2 or EU 4 without ever going to war.
