What can change the nature of role-playing?

Torment: Tides of Numenera, the wildly anticipated spiritual successor to RPG legend Planescape: Torment, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com!

Welcome to the Ninth World. Built upon eight previous instances of civilization, it is littered with remnants of powerful technology, whispers of ancient knowledge, and echoes of amazing feats of magic. These Numenera shape the lives of the current generation, giving birth to epic stories, deep, interconnected narratives, and fierce turn-based battles. Cast right in the middle of this overwhelming chaos, you're faced with the ultimate question: what does one life matter?

Delve deeper into the world of Numenera with the extra goodies included in the Legacy or Immortal Edition. You can also opt to upgrade later.

--In the press--

"Torment is the weird, wordy, wise, and wicked roleplaying game we've so desired during these long years of heightened spectacle" - RPS

"Cerebral and often disturbing, Torment is a rabbit hole of significant depth, where you can get lost in improbable imaginings of warped realities and existential angst" - Game Informer

"To say that my time with Torment has been profoundly personal and joyful is an understatement" - CGM

ValamirCleaver: On https://torment.inxile-entertainment.com/ the backer portal; after signing in, select "Rewards" then the "Keys" tab. Check to see if you have an upgrade key. I had an "Immortal Edition Upgrade" key for my "Backer Edition" because I backed a "Collector's Edition" and a Strategy Guide.
Thank you for the reply! Unfortunately I am too low-level to have such a key, lol.

I'll wait a long time to play anyway, to give them time to fix the bugs and release the "collector's whatsthewhoozitz" and all that. At some point the upgrade will go on sale and I'll grab it then.
Originally my backer portal section only had the vanilla key, so I sent support a message asking for the Immortal version. Before I could get a response (or perhaps it was in response), today they added the upgrade. My only other concern is the Backer Outfit Upgrade key that only appears to offer a Steam option. Anyone know what the deal with that is?

They wrote in the steam thread a user in here's been complaining about they're working on adding them to other platforms (for backers only).
So, no way to map zoom to the keyboard. In order to play this game you need a physical mouse with middle wheel. The game loads saves fully zoomed so it becomes unplayable without that mouse. Hopefully the devs fix this soon. If you have a laptop I recommend avoiding this game until it's fixed.

I will buy backer outfit codes for GOG if someone don't want to use it :)

What about scrolling from the trackpad? I've noticed on Macs, that has been the equivalent to a scrollwheel on a mouse.

On a Mac notebook scrolling with the trackpad is done by sliding two fingers on it. It's actually 360° scrolling, so for zooming I would try more of an upward/downward motion for out/in (or in/out) rather than leftward/rightward. Be sure to try both upwards and downwards because the zooming might not be intuitive.

Don't have the game yet, so I can't try it. Maybe it might work on your computer?

Normally that would work for most games that use the middle mouse wheel for zoom. It just doesn't work with this one. It really wants a physical mouse.

I have no trouble two-finger zooming in Torment with my trackpad.

I have had the same issue with other games on my older laptop though. It could be a driver issue, I've had to update the drivers for my trackpad on this new laptop twice already due to random weirdness.

andrestoebe: Nope.

Pheace: I guess it's just an add-on package with content then rather than giving you a copy of the immortal edition. Makes sense I guess since otherwise it would wipe the backer benefits if they're packaged with the backer version of the game.
Has this changed? I'm a backer and it's showing up as Owned for me.

Did I somehow get a non-backer version of the game?

It changed today. The basic edition shows as owned for backers now. Hopefully this was done in preparation to bring the backer outfit pack to GOG... It would make sense for the backer edition to be an unlisted bundle of the basic edition and outfit pack.

Can you tell somewhere because from the post itself I can't tell what level he backed at?

Well he said his "backer portal" had only the base game. The backer portal has the base game + rewards.

He said the portal only had the vanilla key, which I assume he meant as opposed to having the vanilla key + upgrade key, rather than a statement that he only had a vanilla key and no rewards.

I could be wrong of course but that's how I read it initially.

Someone seems to be.
