Crosmando: Never really understood the appeal of "souls-like" games.
I never understood the appeal of several genres, until I tried the right sample. The surge (1) was the right sample for souls-likes and from the few hours with 2, it's just better polished "more of the same" (and there is nothing wrong with that).

IFW: The Premium Edition has no discount at all - please fix it.
avatar
emter_pl: This time only the standard edition is on sale.
That is incredibly stupid, and GOG and FHI are losing a sale because of it - I'd have instabought but instead I'm skipping it until a commensurate discount is offered on the premium edition.

I'm not interested in buying the pieces separately and having GOG offer me yet another already-owned game during every sale thereafter.
OH YYEEESSS!!!

No one knows the best Souls games are made by a german developer! Glad this got on GOG.

I had problems with these at the beginning as well. After a while I realized that even though it is hard and you will have to repeat several fights to get better you also are getting practice and if it happens that you should die before getting another shortcut there's not much to worry about except for some lost scrap you can recollect again if you are fast enough. It's just unusual for me (being not a good gamer) that progress is really slow ... but it is also a good feeling when you finally make progress ... and you will since the player is getting better and your equipment is getting better which also is a good feeling. I guess you should not try to play those for the story or trying to finish those as fast as possible since it could get frustrating this way very fast but if you want to experience and practice combat once and again it's actually fun. It's just really time consuming depending on how good you are.

Hustlefan: Shouldn't the game have achievements as described on the store page? I don't see them in Galaxy!
I have the same problem.

Linko64: first one is easy to ignore to be fair, the second is great. It adds to the genre rather than just being part of it. Review i did if it helps make your mind up - https://monstervine.com/2019/11/the-surge-2-punk-rock-decapitation-with-a-smile/

MarkoH01: I played the first one a few hours and watching the trailers both seem to have pretty much the same basic gameplay elements. Also the look of the game does not seem to be that different. So even if part 2 might have additional gameplay elemensts I am wondering why the first one in your opinion is pretty much forgettable and the second being great - with all those similarities between those both.

Tarhiel: Hi, I have a question about the Season Pass:
does it also include all the planned DLCs, which are not released yet, or is it just for all the currently released DLCs?
avatar
MarkoH01: The description does not leave much room for interpretation:
"The Season Pass grants you access to a total of four DLCs: "
Combat flows more smoothly.

Limb target system works well, weaves into how loot is obtained in a far more effective manner.

Parry system adds something not often seen in the genre and enhances the before mentioned limb targeting..

Better pacing, more depth in options and builds. Better boss encounters and more varied enemy styles. A lot harder to cheese it too

Thank you for the explanation. "A lot harder to cheese it" ... now I am really sweating. It will probably take me years until I have finished The Surge 1 - I might be able to finish this in my afterlife :D

My achievements work fine (see attachment). They are just missing popup when they happen (which is probably because in-game galaxy overlay is not supported).

The achievements are being properly triggered, but the full list of them doesn't load for some reason.

Galaxy shows I have 100% of the achievements because it doesn't know how many there are.

Exactly this! Here's another screenshot where you can see that there is no complete list of the achievements. Galaxy shows the unlocked ones only.

Hmm, you two are right, I misunderstood the problem. This really doesn't look right.

It is not. I have experienced the exact same issue in different games in the past. You guys should contact support., they were able to help me then and I am sure they will be able to help now as well :)

Btw: Imo achievements without popups are kind of pointless. IF you want achievements you also want popups as an option.

I don't believe I've ever played a souls-like game but know that they tend to be either a love-them-or-hate-them style of play with the relentless "git gud" comments and memes that endured as long as "Thanks for Skyrim!" did. That said, this game looks nice. My interest is piqued. My OCD is like others here, though, where buying this piecemeal would leave the Premium Edition showing as forever unowned moving forward. I'm really happy GOG and Focus got this here, but perhaps waiting for a matching discount on the Premium version is the way to go.
My biggest fear of Soul-like game is it tend to be repetitive and boring

Thanks for your suggestion. I've contacted support now. Hopefully they'll take care of this issue.
