I just installed the GOG version of Arena and compared it to the one from Bethesda's site. The GOG version has an extra folder named "SPEECH", and it has 173 .voc files. It looks like this is based of the better CD version. That's a nice bonus.

toxicTom: Now I really hope for a Morrowind Mod Spotlight. Some of the good old mods sadly went under with PlanetElderscrolls. Would be nice to know if they're still available somewhere (or if there are alternatives).
We're planning on doing that on GOGcom Twitch channel in the future, for sure!
Where do Redguard and Battlespire come in the order of Elder Scroll games?
Were they standalones or expansions?

IronArcturus: Sounds interesting! So can people start with Morrowind without having played the previous two? Do you know if the engine allows windowed mode?
Yes. The events of the previous games can be read about in various books found in the game (the same with all the later TES games). And each game has a new protagonist (though they all start out a prisoner).

I don't know about windowed mode in vanilla MW, I use MGE and only play fullscreen.
OH MY GAWWWWWWWWWWWWWDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111ONE

They were standalone. Redguard is a bit different to the other ES games (can't talk about Battlespire).

outstarwalker: mods...
I recently played Morrowind with both Overhaul, and Rebirth. These are both great additions. I would appreciate this "Twitch" thing your doing to be transcribed to the forum, so I can see if any other mods work well with these two and are worth it.
Buy a game, get a free game for free? Well, let it be. Even though they weren't terribly well-received, I'm interested in finally being able to check out Redguard and Battlespire

Yeah, I've never heard of these TES series before. Did they all come before Morrowind?

Thiev: You can enable windowed mode in .ini file
Does the GOG version of Morrowind include the Construction Set?

Thanks for the info! Also, I wonder if GOG will be able to get Oblivion or Skyrim at some point...

They were standalone games of a different flavour than the TES RPGs.

Battlespire plays around the same time as Arena (3E399)
Daggerfall takes place in 3E403.
Redguard is a story from an earlier era (2E864), that's around the same as TES Online.

IronArcturus: How is Elder Scrolls III compared to the others?

toxicTom: MW requires more work (and lots of reading) if you really want to dive into the story. But it has been for me the most satisfying TES experience ever.
I'll have to agree with all you've said. Truly a beautiful world to get lost, you can get a feeling of alienation while the Oblivion & Skyrim are more medieval. With each TES release after Morrowind, the series turned out to be simpler (more mainstream you could say) although I enjoyed them all. I can't comment on the stories though, I haven't finished III & V, only IV but from what I've seen so far, the main quest isn't the series highlight. On the other hand there are some very interesting side-quests and some pretty interesting factions to join in all three games.

Anyway, keep in mind that the series require much free time to fully enjoy them, unless you're the "main quest and uninstall" type of gamer.

Battlespire is a standalone dungeon crawler. You have a few tower levels to explore, and you will find items here and there. No shops from what I recall, nor merchants, though you will find a few repair chests.
Not really sure where it stands story wise, but I don't think it really matters.
