Alien threat [redacted].

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is now available DRM-free on GOG.COM, 80% off until August 20nd, 6pm UTC.

The government denies knowledge but they are here. With the Cold War paranoia at its breaking point, a unit of elite operatives must investigate and eliminate the extra-terrestrial threat away from the unsuspecting public eye. As agent Carter you must assemble and co-ordinate your top-secret team, make decisions under fire, and use advanced technology to outsmart the crafty aliens in this third-person shooter spinoff to the beloved tactical series.
This game isnt half bad . Nice one GOG :D

groze: So, considering all that, would the people who know about or like this game say it's worth a shot? Even if the "pure" XCOM titles aren't really my thing? Could I still enjoy this one? Is the cheap promo price reason enough to not let it go past?
Honestly I've always felt the game would have been better served if it DIDN'T have the XCOM designation.

It's a really fun 3rd person cover / power based squad shooter. With some nice little perks and abilities your guys can pick up, along with RPG aspects (equip your guys, decide what to build and research in your base, etc). The story and setting are pretty cool and I always thought it was a really underrated little game.

It plays a lot like the combat in Mass Effect. I really enjoyed the game and it's a great one to show up here. Plus the price is just stupid. I might have to double dip and play it again (I solved the game on console back when it released).

pacciulli: That's a weird censorship.

mechmouse: ninja's are too violent
Ninja Cat, deadly accurate!

Thank you so much for the informed reply, I guess I'll buy it, then, it really does sound more interesting, the way you put it (and would probably have benefited a lot by dropping XCOM from its name, going by what you said).

For €4, even if I don't LOVE it, it's still a pretty sweet deal (oh, and thanks to GOG Wallet credit, I won't even pay that much, so there's that, too).
Hell yes! Finally!! Thank you, GoG!!

Great release! Will definitely buy after the weekend sale is up.

But GOG, I'm seeing 'August 20nd' in your post. That's supposed to be 'August 20th', right? Or is it 'August 22nd'?

Instabuy!! Hope to see more from 2K soon, thanks!
Gee, thanks for not having the Mac version here, 2K. If it was a Feral port, like XCOM, it would be understandable. But given that it seems to be an in-house port, I'm not seeing the logic.
Nice, bought

MadalinStroe: I don't know what that means, I only know of Teenage Hero Turtles. ;)

It is odd, isn't it. Ninjas must have had a bad/violent rep in the UK at the time (at least with the BBC) and the name change carried over to several European countries. They also edited out Michelangelo's nunchaku (but left in the swords, daggers, staffs, etc). By the time the later TMNT series came out in the 2000s, the censorship viewpoint had modernized (or at least become more consistent), and the ninja turtles stayed ninja turtles.
Aaaaahhh, my Mass Effect itch. It's been scratched, after all that time spent waiting!!

Not a complete replacement of course, more like poor cousin. But close enough, until EA decides to take their heads out of DRM sands (like that will ever happen...)
low rated
come on, 20$ base price is bullshit. I don't say that you have to sell/discount it to 1$ like HumbleBundle, but once the current discount ends then the base price is a pretty nasty rip-off
Nice to see this here. Unfortunately, I am flat broke, so it will have to sit on my wishlist for a while.

That's the discount culture though, better to keep a high price and be able to throw around high discounts than a low price and low discounts. That's the base price everywhere I think

It's nearly $30 on Steam if you're buying all the DLC with the game. All the DLC is included with the GOG release at $20. I don't see how that's a bad deal.
