Someone a few posts before you explained the situation.

The devs had a development plan / season pass and when they finished it, almost everything was combined in the big DLC pack.

Than they started producing original content which was not part of the board game and released that as single content for the last months/years.

Maybe later, when they have run out of new content, they will again pack the new content together to a second DLC pack.

Since the last sales were quite "meh" for me I droped the ball and purchased the complete games and all DLCs. Installing that monster will be kind a pain in the ass. 46 Installs. Plus 4 more for Origins. Damn... Why no complete installer? ^^

Yes, they are only "steam acievements" but it appears that certain books are unlocked as you progress. I think you can skip the tutorials though.

If I wanted to start playing the game, what would be the needed DLC for a beginner?

I was thinking of the DLC bundles in the Humble Bundle.

I'm thinking of buying them and the game here on GOG, not the Humble Bundle, but was wondering if what they listed was good for a beginner?

Nothing is needed apart from the base game, so my advice is buy the game and play a little and see if you like it. Hint: the game is entertaining as a single player experience, but it's a blast in multiplayer, especially hotseat. Do try it.

From that point on, and if you like it, it's a good idea to get a couple DLCs at least to keep things fresh, so you don't end up seeing the same cards over and over again. The DLC bundle here (I mean the Talisman Digital DLC Bundle, not the Origins stuff) is a good deal for about 30 euros, it contains every expansion ever published for the physical boardgame, and you don't really need anything else, that will provide content for ages to play.

If you want a cheaper/bitsized option to expand, I'd recommend the Reaper, it was the first expansion released for the boardgame and it rounds it up quite nicely with a good bunch of new cards, a few more characters and some new game options. You can perfectly leave the game there if you're not the completionist type.

And I'm also gonna chime in here as someone who really doesn't care about the game / franchise really, whatever it might be, but about what happened to the website.

I regularly check the "new releases" section of the main GoG page, and this release(s) has utterly broken that list. Even in the extended view of it, which holds 48 entries, "Talisman" has pushed everything else completely off the list. Even if you filter out the DLC entries using the filter options to the left, out of the 48 entries, only 5 remain. Rather than the pushed-off entries showing back up.

Due to this release, everything that has been pushed off the list by it has effectively been robbed of exposure. I certainly have missed a few new arrivals on GoG, due to this. The list was definitely not made to cope with this extreme amount of DLC entries flooding in.

Yeah, not really a fault of the game, as much as the website. Still majorly annoying.
Please fix that ASAP, GoG...

1) that's still a huge, unattractive to look at wall of text
2) which will be super hard to find / know about for even "loud" customers like me.

As such, it really can't fill that role properly, for me. And the majority of other people won't even complain nor research for alternatives. The needed exposure is just gone for any recent releases when this happens, and on top of that the releases that "broke" the list get flak for it, too, when they can't help it. So, GoG really needs to fix that list feature ASAP.

For people expecting Prologue and Horus Heresy, I have bad news.

I asked a question on Talisman Facebook page about that and they said that the publisher decided to not renew the licence due to low sales of these games.

Anyway, Horus Heresy has a futuristic setting, and Prologue seems to be a predecessor to Origins, because both games contain only single player quests, although the former doesn't have AI-controlled opponents and any content from the expansions.

Sadly, Origins doesn't have a quest editor. Otherwise the Prologue could be recreated in the game.

Unfortunately there is no add all to cart option so I don't know the total cost.

I suspect a Ferrari would be equivalently priced.

Was interested in the game, until I see the ocean of DLC...

So does that mean they are still making new DLCs for this game that are not already listed on GOG, but which will be coming in the future?
