We have exciting news for all the fans of classic tabletop fun. Two board game adaptations - Talisman: Digital Edition and Talisman: Origins - are now available DRM-free on GOG.COM! nigelbeans: You wouldn't get any of the 4 legendary decks. You would get 17 characters, missing 7 of them. You'd get 13 expansion packs, missing 3 of them. You also get the Runestone deck, but this can be unlocked through normal game progression.

I hope the above is correct - it's possible I made a mistake.

As someone who bought the season pass on Steam way back when, I know what's going on here -

If you get the digital deluxe edition, you'll be getting all the stuff from the original board game's expansions save one character that for some reason was put up as a special charity thing. The only way to get that one is to buy it individually.

Once they finished making all the expansions and characters that got added to the board game, they decided they'd keep making expansions... only, since the season pass/digital deluxe version was covering specifically board game DLC, everyone who bought that had run out of free content. To the best of my knowledge, any content released after that point is going to remain individual purchases, not bundled.

Dogmaus: Absolutely yes, for cheap you still get several characters (I don't remember how many) and they are fun to play, and there's plenty of content. For this price it's really good even without the DLC.

svmariscal: To further add to the answer, and assuming this is a 1:1 rendition of the game (which I believe it is), the base game has a limited deck of adventure cards, so while it's enough to play, could become a bit samey in the long run. The good news is you don't really need all the expansions listed, even purchasing one or two would go a long way to increase replayability.

My advice would be buy the base game, play it and if you like it you can get a few dlcs of your liking to add to the game. The Reaper is a good choice to round up the base game.

I just made a look into these many DLCs, and I found what's not included in the DLC Bundle:

- Legendary Decks (Base, Dungeon, Highland, Reaper)
- Expansions (Ancient Beasts, Clockwork Kingdom, Realm of Souls)
- Characters (Pilgrim, Ranger, Satyr, Shaman, Swordsman, Vampire, Witch Hunter)

I like to see older indies come to GOG but I wish we could get some higher up on the wishlist.

I agree, I've always avoided games that use the card-pack model. An all-in-one digital version like Magarena ( https://magarena.github.io/ ) can be interesting but it is still difficult to get a balanced game. The whole "game balance depends on how much you pay us" is just defective by design and IMO one example of the kind of thing GOG (and any store looking for quality games) should avoid.

Additionally, it is rather impractical for those of us using offline downloaders to download and install that many DLC just to play one game. Even with games with just one DLC I wish there would be a single dowload that includes the DLC.

I just want to add that this game is awsome playing multiplayer on the same computer.

It plays the best with touchscreen and if you have any Windows tablet, just pass the tablet around the table or couch, while drinking a cold one and having a few snacks. It's the closest way to play like any real board game (except it's very easy to brake the digital board, specially after a few beers).

Edit: While you can have great fun with only the base game and a couple of friends (or even with bots), it misses a big DLC, the Talisman LINUX edition DLC.

There are also three characters not listed among DLCs: Witch Doctor, Ninja, and Pirate, but they might be part of some other DLC.
SteamDB's page does not list anything that isn't here on GOG.

FWIW this is not a proper card game, like Magic the Gathering or Gwent. Rather, it is a boardgame 'with' cards. The cards act as events and enemies the players face randomly; think of an RPG like Bard's Tale or Might and Magic, only here each of the monsters and stuff you encounter at random come from a deck of cards.

One more question, this time about Origins.

The Talisman Guilds, The Flames of War and Return of the Dragons are locked. Are they future DLCs or they need to be unlocked by playing the others?

MadalinStroe: If I remember correctly, Talisman Origins is a singleplayer only experience and it has only 3 DLCs, while Talisman Digital Edition is a direct implementation of the board game, and it aims at the multiplayer experience, and it is monetized as such with plenty of DLCs. I know which one I'm getting.

Anime-BlackWolf: I bought the DLC Pack and the following stuff is still missing:

- 5 characters (Vampire, Satyr, Witch Hunter, Shaman, Swordsman)
- 4 Legendary decks (all of them I think...)
- 3 Expansions (Ancient Beast, Clockwork Kingdom, Realm of Souls)

Quite a bit missing in the pack, I think newer stuff?
I believe the reasoning from the Devs for this is the DLC pack contains every expansion and character that was released for the boardgame over the years (and as you can see, that was a lot of extra content), while the ones NOT included in the pack are unique content created by the devs for the digital version

Not sure why they felt the need to seperate it out like but there you are.
