The future has an intriguing past.

Tacoma, an affecting, multi-pathed mystery that you can explore at your own pace, is now available, DRM-Free on GOG.com

In space, no one can hear you bond. No one except the high-tech surveillance system which records and recreates the echoes left behind by the six people who used to live aboard the enigmatic Tacoma station. Now their lives, relationships, and peculiarities are yours to piece together, as you retrace their steps and interact with the objects they left behind.

Intrigued to find out more about the game? Fullbright, the studio which also gave us the lovely Gone Home, recently posted a video about The Making of Tacoma, where they give some insight on the story and setting of their upcoming adventure. It's totally worth a watch, plus you can pause, fast forward, and manipulate the footage any way you like!

CharlesGrey: Not sure what you mean by forefront -- It's not like they have to put it at the top of the game description, in bold glowing letters or whatever. I think of it as merely another bit of information about a game, and it's nice to have it all in one place, right on the game's store page, to help make a well informed buying decision.

And I know it can be tricky to give accurate estimates, but even a very rough average value would be better than nothing at all, so people don't have to guess whether the game they're about to buy will keep them busy for one afternoon, of for the rest of the month. If they want to be thorough, they could provide two or three values, for "minimum play time" and "completionists" or something along those lines.
I mean putting it front and center as an official metric, above other criteria and alongside things like the system requirements. It might be better to just to take a step back on not mention it at all, see how that turns out. People are too obsessed with time as it is already.

What about those of us who owned Event[0] before this announcement?

groze: Fullbright spent years designing this world. They do great world/scenario building and amazing character development -- especially amazing, considering the player character is usually the only *factual* character in their games, and somehow they make you care about people who aren't even physically there. They put a lot of effort into creating this game, and they should be acknowledged for that, even if the game is "short" by a lot of people's standards. So far, this seems to be one of the best games of the year (again: provided you do like "walking simulator" or interactive narrative experience games, of course), according to critics and players alike, which makes its €20 price seem more than reasonable, to me.
I mostly agree with you - that a game's price cannot be measured solely by the time it takes to complete, and that the more important thing is how much a game is worth to each individual. If sales are disappointing, the game will see major discounts within a few months anyway.
Still, if I understand your earlier comment correctly you have not, in fact, played the game yourself. So with all due respect, I find your defending the game's worthiness and GOTY status a bit premature.

Personally, I found Gone Home utterly mediocre, so I'm rather interested in what people who felt the same way think about Tacoma, but those seem rather rare...

That seems like an odd motivation for a purchase. I take it you enjoyed their previous game, so simply see it as supporting a dev team you like.

( Also, fucking people with money sounds kinky. Maybe they even have a fetish for that sort of thing. )
I did like Gone Home and is partially why im buying tacoma. The other reasons are mainly political. There was SO much backlash against it, simply for being about a person of a certain sexual orientation.

Vainamoinen: GOG, I think it's high time you only let people with the game in their accounts write reviews or vote on it.

Or at the very least remove reviews that clearly state they didn't play the game and don't even intend to.

Yeah, I get it. Not everyone likes "walking simulators". I personally don't. But this review/score bombing shit is just shameful. And it's clearly abuse of the system you established, so please do fix it.
That's probably not the most ideal solution. Many people review games although they have them on Steam, PS4 or on disc. Their reviews are often legitimate, although occasionally very fanboyish (especially those who haven't played the game in 20 years and whose views are filtered by rose tinted glasses) or hate-filled.

A better solution would be to mark/prioritise reviews from accounts which actually have the game, and to allow viewers to filter out reviews where the game wasn't present on the GOG account. Maybe even use GOG Connect to check if the reviewer has the game on Steam and use that for legitimisation.

Tarhiel: What about those of us who owned Event[0] before this announcement?
When you go to purchase Tacoma you get a message in the cart that says: "Please note that Event[0] is included in Tacoma but you already own this item, and will not receive another copy when you buy this pack." So I guess you don't get a code to redeem Event[0] that you can give to a friend.
