Sheeeeeiiiiit! I wasn't expecting any outstanding releases today and I sure as hell wasn't expecting motherfucking SWAT 4! Instabought!

If you're reading this, you should instabuy it too! There are two levels in this game you won't forget. If you played it, you'll know which two I'm talking about.

Breja: GOG- please, please replace the "farewell" screenshot with another one. It's one of the best, most chilling moments in the game. It's a shame to spoil it like that.
+1, and I usually don't mind spoilers. But this is going waaaaaaay too far.

Whoever is responsible for including that screenshot deserves a "Passion of the Christ"-style flogging.

fake edit: Wow, I just noticed that this is published by Activision. How come this isn't $29.99 or something? A reasonably priced Activision release? Hath hell frozen over? This is truly a miraculous release!

There is no need for the mf part.
Very good news. These are the moments I like most on GOG. It's the best thing of GOG that they made old games available for buying (and running) again. And they are DRM free too.
I still have my box copy of SWAT4 and the expansion, but I'll probably pick this up anyway. I love SWAT 4, it does some things better, but I still think SWAT3 is better if you can stomach the aged graphics. It properly simulates bullet penetration on every thing, doors, walls, furniture, etc., where SWAT4 only does it on doors. You had to be careful with your shots, I lost many missions due to a stray bullet going through a wall hitting a civilian in another room. The AI is better too, and they took advantage of that bullet penetration, shooting at you through walls.

tfishell: Shame that SWAT 3 isn't supported past Win 7.
I just played it on Win10 64bit. The only problem I noticed was when pressing the weapon status key, the game got choppy and the overlay was blank. Other than that, I played a couple of missions and it was fine.

deja65: Guys just a little heads up.The SWAT 4 front page on GOG says that Intel integrated graphics are not supported, but that's not correct.Maybe it isn't officialy supported ;),but the game runs buttery smooth on my Core i7 with Intel HD 6000 graphics, which is really awesome. Now my bus trips won't be a chore anymore :D.Cheers
Great to hear that, thanks pal.
Thanks GOG!

How long does it usually take for support to answer when it comes to payment problems? Because my card got a preliminary payment but the website got stuck during the payment process and the game was never added to my library.

It really depends on how much of a backlog they're dealing with. I've alerted them to your post as well though so they will a 100% be on it.

Thank you :)
SWAT 4 with its expansion is achingly close to being a perfect game in my books.

In my mind it has only a single failing, but it's a really notable one if you want to play cooperative missions (which really is one of the best experiences). Unlike the single player missions, a multiplayer SWAT 4 team is only as large as the number of players -- there are NO A.I. team members in multiplayer!

SWAT 3 (also a superb game) implemented an A.I. squad-mates feature beautifully, with human players able to take over an A.I. character if their original character is killed or disabled. SWAT 4, on the other hand, puts 2-3 player groups at a huge disadvantage by default, as it's simply not possible for your team to cover all the angles.

If you have 4-5 players, you'll be fine; 3 players can be really difficult; and 2 players is simply brutal, such that you should expect to fail over and over and over again.

If SWAT 4 had included multiplayer A.I. team mates ala SWAT 3, I would rate it as one of the very finest games ever made. As it is, it's still brilliant as a single-player game, and does have the ability to shine very brightly in multiplayer, but I've always felt they dropped the ball badly in that one significant area -- which is just a shame, when everything else about the game is so spectacularly good.

Edit: Actually, there's another major failing, but fortunately there's a workaround for it. I was just reminded of the fact that SWAT 4 includes internet-based advertising code, which is absolutely reprehensible, and makes the levels look absolutely ridiculous if you don't take steps to block them. Edit your system's hosts file to deal to those:

# SWAT 4 adverts go away
127.0.0.1 madserver.net
127.0.0.1 ad.madserver.net
127.0.0.1 imp.madserver.net

Oh wow! :D I just got tears! :D One of my best memories in gaming, I will get the game someday! Thank you Activision and GoG for this! <3 you
Well you just made my day. I'm almost tempted to say stop releasing good games so i can spend money on food and other survivally things.
Now this is a Great Old Game! Good job GOG!
I wanted to thank GOG support for resolving the problem so quickly and because answering the email would reopen the ticket I thought I would write it here.

Thank you very much :)
