Pick up your blaster and fall in line, trooper!

Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II, a firsthand experience of the greatest Star Wars™ battefields, is available now on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount!

Star Wars™ Battlefront™ was the answer a decade old question: "What would it be like to be a stormtrooper?" It was the first time gamers got the opportunity to participate in the greatest battles of the Star Wars™ films - not as a mighty hero or all-seeing commander - but as a common footsoldier, a disposable cog in the galactic war machine.
One year later, Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II took that answer to a whole new level, expanding on nearly every aspect of the first title. The game dwarfed its predecessor in content with more battles raging across 18 famous locations, frantic space combat with massive boardable capital ships, and the addition of playable heroes and villains from the Star Wars™ universe.

Fall in line, trooper, and take your place on the battlefield in Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II, available now for Windows on GOG.com!
The 20% launch discount will last for 72 hours until Friday, January 23, at 1:59 PM GMT.

Is there a reason why there's only Battlefront II and no Battlefront?
I think I played this when it came out, it was never quite as good as Battlefield (this is the one that is basically a reskined Battlefield 1942 isn't it?) but I did love Battlefield 1942, and I love Star Wars so I'll probably pick this one up at some point and give this one a go.
just logged in and saw the starwars games :D

now these are nice prices, even the list price at 8.49 euro per game, some are even less...
to bad its all 3d so i skip all of these, i knew the games from the past, didnot buy them aswell, but the list price is a very good one.

just waiting fro the maniac mansion stuff and the likes (2d version)

More games in 45 hrs 36 min 20 sec

lol, i hope i wont miss out on the maniac mansion game and the likes (indiana jones, loom ....)like games , the 2d adventures
looking forward to these.

"What would it be like to be a stormtrooper". Well, time to find out! :-)
Just like in the Galactic Battlegrounds thread let me mention Gameranger here.

Just checked, there's a whole bunch of open Battlefront 2 sessions, one of them has 24 players in it with a limit of 64. With the game now being for sale here I guess you can expect the numbers to go up over the next weeks IF people are actually made aware of Gameranger. Either way, obviously you can easily play this game online with a solid amount of players.

And lemme add that singleplayer is surprisingly good in this game, a zillion times better than in all the pre-Bad Company Battlefield games.

Do you know what the difference is between Battlefront I and II? I've never played either game before.

I never played II, but it was my understanding that it added a few "transitions" (moving from spacecraft to interior fighting - flying a fighter into a hangar bay for example) as well as a few "tighter" setpiece missions with a bit more of a traditional FPS feel (again, interior of starships).

I know Battlefront I included Droid Army options (you could be one of those skinny "Roger Roger" guys, or a Droideka) - I'm not sure if that was included in II. Also, when II released I thought I had heard they weren't redoing some of the classic setpiece battles done in I (Hoth being the big one) but one of the screenshots here clearly looks like The Battle of Hoth.

Oh, I also think II included a few more options for playing Jedi / saber wielders - something that wasn't present in I. Take what I say with a grain of salt, though as I played I a while ago and never did play II.

Space combat and playable hero characters are the two main differences.

if I remember right, II has more maps, stuff from all movies (including vehicles, and it's all around improved)

So is Battlefront II just an updated version of Battlefront I? Is it essentially the same game?
It plays very similarly, but I wouldn't say it's just an update. I played the hell out of both of them on PS2, and they're both fun. The only downside to 2 is that there were a few stages from 1 that were removed. Xbox (Classic) users got them back as DLC, but the servers for Xbox Live Classic are looooooooooooong gone. Don't know how/why they weren't released for the PC version.

EDIT: If I recall correctly, Battlefront 1 did not have space combat, so that's a huge point in favor of 2. Galactic Conquest mode is also a lot more involved in 2.

So I suppose this would go well with Galaxy?
About: With space combat, playable Jedi Jedi characters, and over 16 all new battlefronts, Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II gives you more ways than ever before to play the classic Star Wars™ battles any way you want.
Jar Jar Binks? :D

WOW. Thanks! Would be nice if they have an API Galaxy could plugin to. Having more Servers available is always a good thing.
