Hammer time!

Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% discount until December 26.
The First Contact war took its toll on the human settlers of Novus. Fourteen years later, a Second Contact war is brewing and as the bold commander of a strike fleet you must embark on a 60-mission campaign that will test your space maneuvering, long-term tactical thinking, and ability to make the necessary sacrifices in order to push back the nautilid threat. All in 3D real-time-with-pause battles against this consistently unpredictable enemy.

Check out the rest of the Slitherine Ltd. space epics which arrived together at GOG.com.

Watch the trailer.

Haven't heard of this one before but at $10 a game of this type with branching missions sounds like a good buy to me.
Is this more Sword of the Stars or more Nexus the Jupiter Incident?

I've tried to get into Nexus about four times now, and I just can't get past the weird difficulty, super slow pace, and unskippable cutscenes.

Some part in I think the third mission where some ship explodes before I get there is really what ticks me off.

The latter. From what I've read about Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy, it's got a bloated campaign with missions that all boil down to wiping out the enemy. Nexus The Jupiter Incident can be very frustrating at times, but the mission variety is excellent and the story is paced to perfection. It's not my intention to sound snobby, but there's also a big difference in presentation. Jupiter has extensive briefing scenes and solid voiceacting, whereas Star Hammer strings along missions with text-only comm logs.
Hmm, nice with another space strategy game but the trailer failed to ignite my rockets.
This is a WEGO turned based space battle game with a story overlying it. It is the precursor to Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, which we recently released on PC and is coming to PS4 and xBox One Friday.
Happy to see Slitherine here! Now I just hope there'll be some releases I don't already own elsewhere. GOG Connect for these titles would be great too, but either way - really hope we'll get Close Combat and the Gary Grigsby games on here at some point.

I assume from your post you are one of the devs or publishers?
If so you should ask GOG to sort you out with orange text.

And thanks for bringing your game(s) here!

Actually Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy has a bit more variety in missions.
You'll get at least escort missions, go from point A to point B's and some running away from overwhelming odds.
It's still primarily straight up fleet vs fleet combat game though.

I must admit that the lack of cutscenes and VA made it easier for me to get into this game than into Nexus.
Sometimes I prefer that presentation of plot doesn't get into way of actually playing the game.

Games also use different systems; real-time in case of Nexus and phase based for Star Hammer.

Believe me when I say that you're not the only one. The Close Combat series would make an awesome addition to GOG's catalog.
There surely is a theme for today's releases... This one looks pretty. Will probably need to look for reviews to discern between all these space games.

Exactly, I own the slitherine games "elsewhere". I must be very excited to double-own a game(so I'll likely pass the sale). Slitherine@GoG got me by surprise -- can we expect more (new, even) slitherine titles here? Let us know your plans and we'll stop likely stop buying slitherine games "elsewhere" on-release-date.

That's what I thought too. On the other hand they all look a bit generic to me. I wonder how polished each game really is.
