Breath of new life.

SpellForce 2 Anniversary Edition a cult-favorite mix of RPG/RTS in a revitalized package, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com.

By the year 2007, SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars and its expansion SpellForce 2: Dragon Storm swept across the gamersphere, garnering a cult following for its mix of RPG and RTS elements in a bold, coherent, and–most importantly–absolutely fun experience.

A decade later, SpellForce 2 Anniversary Edition is here to breathe a new life into the series with a rebuilt multiplayer experience as well as numerous gameplay and bug fixes. Combining both SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars and Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm, the Anniversary Edition is a completely free upgrade to all owners of both original products, and an affordable upgrade (67% off) if you only own the base game.

Ophelium: See Ultima IX, Might and Magic IX, Empire Earth III, Earthworm Jim 3D and so on.
Err.. what does it mean?
I know that those games are bad, but I don't get what you're trying to say O_o

EDIT: maybe you mean that it's bad because it's the last of the series? (it actually isn't)

Actually, those are considered the "worst" of their respective series. I don't know why Faith in Destiny has been rejected but it being the worst of the series seems like a pretty flimsy reason.

In this case no. This was so bad that the publisher doesn't even want to acknowledge its existence. It was not developed by Nordic and I remember a quote a while back saying the would rather not have released it but we're forced to release it for Steam back when they aquire the property from JoWood due to a contract made by JoWood before then.

I cannot find the quote for the life of me. Maybe it's been purged from the net. My Google-fu seems to suck at the moment.

[EDIT] It probably won't come to GoG. If Nordic had their way it would be removed from Steam too.

Found a related quote!

I remember there being one with more info than this but here you go:

Impaler26: The anniversary edition was added to my library and SpellForce 2: Dragon Storm and Shadow Wars are still there as they should be - so far so good.

But there's also one negative aspect about the anniversary edition - it comes with no extras, not even a manual.

The old gold edition had the following extras included:

- manual
- manual (french)
- wallpaper
- soundtrack
- avatars
- artworks

So people who haven't bought the old version won't get any of those extras with the anniversary edition.
That thoroughly sucks. Oh well. It's my own fault for not getting them sooner.
I just wanted to thank you guys for the free upgrade. It was a nice surprise when I opened Galaxy tonight.
GOG: Based on the game description, I'm almost certain that in el_kloklo's review the persistent "STR" acronym is intended to be "RTS". I spent most of the review hoping that the author was going to explain that acronym at some point, because I had no idea what type of game it was referring to. Perhaps, after confirming with el_kloklo, the review text could be fixed?

It looks to be RTS. Most likely his native tongue is one where the noun comes before the adjective (like in Stratégie Temps Réél), thence the slip.
This says it combines SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars and Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm, but nothing about Demons of the Past. Are all 3 included?

you are able to read some words, but not others - I don't understand this?

Spellforce 2 has ANOTHER part that isn't available on GOG? WTF!?!??! Get it, GOG, or I'm not buying Spellforce 3 until you do.

This does nothing to answer my question. I read the announcement and asked a pertinent question. Don't like it, don't respond.
Ok, seems as though neither Faith in Destiny nor Demons of the past are included... What a curious choice.

My issue is that I don't understand your inability to read things. Like, you've read some of the information, but not all of it, so then you come here wasting people's time because you can't read a full paragraph and then you expect to be given answers that have already been given. If you would just READ in the first place.

"Combining both SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars and Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm, the Anniversary Edition is a completely free upgrade to all owners of both original products..."

If you did read it (I don't see how you could have) WHAT is so hard to understand about that sentence?

My initial response should have at least HELPED you figure out the answer to the question by making your brain go "oh, maybe the information is already available and I should be able to figure it out on my own, let me go look" - instead you simply wish to be hand-fed the answers, it's preposterous.

I dunno, I've never played it before so hard to say but it has a rating of around 65 on Steam. I own all of the other Spellforce games on GOG so naturally I want to own that one on GOG also but since it isn't here it's not on my radar more or less until it shows up here so I can complete the series (along with Spellforce 3 in the future).

GOG sells many games that are rated below 65 though so I don't see that as a problem. They sometimes work in mysterious ways. Maybe they're waiting an extra 10 years to add it so they keep a pool of "old games" they don't have yet to pull from in the future. :)

Faith in Destiny currently has 540 votes spread across two entries, the first one is the main one so please use it for voting, and report the other one as a duplicate.

Maybe if it was "John Romero's Spellforce 2: Faith in Destiny" we'd have it here? :)

Something along those lines had seemed likely, but I didn't have a practical example at hand, so thank you for that :)
