Breath of new life.

SpellForce 2 Anniversary Edition a cult-favorite mix of RPG/RTS in a revitalized package, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com.

By the year 2007, SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars and its expansion SpellForce 2: Dragon Storm swept across the gamersphere, garnering a cult following for its mix of RPG and RTS elements in a bold, coherent, and–most importantly–absolutely fun experience.

A decade later, SpellForce 2 Anniversary Edition is here to breathe a new life into the series with a rebuilt multiplayer experience as well as numerous gameplay and bug fixes. Combining both SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars and Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm, the Anniversary Edition is a completely free upgrade to all owners of both original products, and an affordable upgrade (67% off) if you only own the base game.
Wow, THQ Nordic does it once again! Awesomesauce. Like CDPR, they know how to go beyond the call of duty and treat their customers awesome. I'm increasingly happy I own a large collection of Nordic games on GOG, and some on Steam as well, and look forward to any other new arrivals in the future, or any other surprises they might have up their sleeves for us. :)

As for those wondering, the new game does not replace the old games in your library, but rather shows up as a new separate title so if you had the originals you'll end up with both.

Thanks again THQ Nordic!
Still waiting on the one expansion I don't have, Spellforce 2: Faith in Destiny. Will be happy to see the day when the series is finished on GOG! :)

In any case thanks for the free update as I have the others!

Anyone who wants Faith in Destiny, please feel free to vote here:

Nice I forgot I owned the original games! Thanks THQ Nordic - already in my account :)
Good release! ^_^

eiii: As the old game cards are not accessible anymore as usual on GOG, is there any difference between the Anniversary Edition and the sum of the previous parts? Anything added or removed?

Yeah I've always wondered why Faith in Destiny never came to GOG.com to date. All I've heard anyone ever say is "Oh, that's because it has DLC", which is true as there are 4 DLC for it on Steam - but... that makes absolutely no sense as a reason for it to not come to GOG because GOG sells games that have DLC so there's no reason they couldn't sell Faith in Destiny and its DLC on GOG.com also. I mean, it'd be nice if THQ Nordic were to make a special version of the game that is an Everything Edition or whatever but there's nothing stopping it from coming here just because it has DLC, otherwise GOG would reject every other game that has DLC here, and they don't do that.

Other people have suggested it is because the game has lower ratings on Steam that it isn't here but I don't buy that for a second either because GOG sells other game series that have individual games that were poorly received by the public and GOG doesn't accept all the games in the series but reject the ones that weren't as well loved.

Plus, Spellforce is an RPG and GOG gamers love RPGs, even somewhat bad ones so if there's anywhere it makes sense to sell Faith in Destiny and crank up the profit from it, IMHO it would be here, even if just for collectors that want the whole series.

Personally, I think it's just not come to GOG yet because Nordic has preferred to devote their resources to other games that were a bit more worthy of the time and effort to date, but that they'll probably eventually release Faith in Destiny here also when it comes around. I mean... why wouldn't they? It has to just be a prioritization thing I believe. It'll eventually arrive I'm sure. :)

Ah thanks, forgot about that. I'll probably forget again in another 6 months when it comes up too. :)

Everyone who wants to see Spellforce 2: Faith in Destiny should vote for it here:

Granted there isn't a big shitstorm of votes for it yet. There is a duplicate entry which I submitted as a dupe to GOG which adds 30 more votes if they merge it.

skeletonbow: Faith in Destiny
Wasn't it the worst of the series, however?
