Simple, charming, beloved.

SimCity 3000™ Unlimited, a cult favorite entry in the legendary urban-planning and city-building sim series, is available now with a 50% discount, DRM-free on GOG.com

The SimCity series was a smash-hit since its very first appearance in 1989, but it wasn't until until a decade later that SimCity 3000 took that design to an all-time high in terms of complexity vs. accessibility, as well as pure charm.

The core gameplay will be familiar no matter which entry in the series you've played before — you'll be managing your city's zones, budget, ordinances, and the many often conflicting needs of your SimCitizens. SimCity 3000 improves on its predecessor with a mixture of new elements to manage and better accessibility – this is the title that first introduced advisors into the series. The Unlimited re-release further expanded the game with new types of architecture, challenging scenarios, new disasters, and so much more.

An efficient and complex metropolis is the end goal, but on your way there you'll spend countless of hours living and breathing the city — and this is where SimCity 3000 truly shines and stands out from the crowd. It's a pleasant and accessible experience — from the memorable jazzy soundtrack (one of the best ever, check it out below), clean and still-beautiful presentation, to that delicate balance of just enough to worry about without overwhelming players with excessive information and data.

Return to SimCity 3000™ Unlimited now DRM-free on GOG.com! The 50% launch discount will The 50% launch discount will last until July 21, 12:59 PM UTC.

Finally :D
So 16 year old games are regionally priced now (with higher price points than the base price)? What happened to "We won't do regional pricing for our classic games"?
I'm picking this GOG as soon as I get home. Hopefully it's not your final word as far as EA's classics are concerned.
Wishlisted for now.

I'm assuming that's rhetorical since I doubt you'd be surprised by anything GOG does these days.
Awesome! Finally. Wishlisted, for now. ^_^
Instabuy instabuy!!
Uneducated question: (Why) is it better than SC4?

Yeah, I would like to know more about SimCity 3000 as well. From what I"ve read, the soundtrack is supposed to be pretty good. I wonder if it has windowed mode.

I'd also like to know why people thing that. It's been many years since I last played 3000, but it still seems pretty clear to me that SC4 is the better game overall.
SC3000 does have neighbouring majors going for it, which was nice. If you want to export water and power for some extra dough in SC4 you have to physically develop neighbouring regions yourself first.
So...WINE compatibility? The current AppDB entries are very old...

Not better, just different.

3000 is essentially an iterative upgrade of 2000. With perhaps the biggest new feature being deals with the (NPC) neighboring cities. It was also more colourful and cartoony.
Can I send you a photo of my box and get a copy for free? XD
I love talking about these games and 3000 is a totally new experience for me, so be warned i am probably going to swamp this thread today. :P
