Master of puppets.

Shadows: Awakening is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Return to the world of the Heretic Kingdoms as the Devourer, a demon able to consume and control the souls of long-dead heroes for his own purposes. As you conquer the dungeons of this dark isometric action/RPG, a fateful choice will emerge: will you use your formidable powers to prevent the world from coming undone, or will you facilitate its downfall?

takezodunmer2005: EDIT Re-installed via program files(x86) and still no dice, I'm shelving this until the devs patch it; I raised the issue via steam as they're aware of this unique situation, none of my 1k+ games has this issue...
avatar
DyNaer: I believe your issue is the following :

Installing the gamei in the x86 folder won't work, because the game is 64 bits only. This directory is used for 32 bits apps.

Besude, as pointed out, that 's not a good idea to use a system directory for your games (i never did it & will never do it)... if you don't have another disk / oartiton use the example given abovr my post (you don't need to use the same name for th directpry. Try this, i don't have any other idea.

PS ! check the game card, for the system requirements.
Yes, I never install games/3D progs in any of the program files, I'm simply troubleshooting using the program files as a last resort! Thanks for the help, but I've exhausted most of my options at this point, save for uninstalling every program/anti-virus except for this game which is pointless as it's the only game out of over 1k that I've installed that has this issue...

I'll have to wait and see if the next patch helps.

Barry_Woodward: I preordered it, not knowing that owners of Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms (like me) were going to get it for free here. I sent a ticket to support as soon as I found out (about a day and a half ago) to get a refund, but didn't receive a response before the game released. Hopefully I can at least get store credit.
You should definitely get a store credit.
Did support responded to your ticket?

So you know that the save files are saved where they should be? Where does it save anyway?

Well , then :

Try to run the game with admin priviliges (if its not already the case) : your issue make me think about this / or it's could be a game bug :s.

Contact the support and or wait a atch : (le later isn't really a quick solution for sure, but since the game release is recent it shouldn't be too long. (well i hope).

Also, keep in mind the game isn't PC only. (i know that's not a reason , but, that doesn't speed up the process when dealing with bug fixes). Many games on console have an auto-save function only..... sigh.

iOtherwuse 'm clueless.

candesco: I only wonder if you get here on gog the same as steam users or that the steam version has extra things.
The Steam version does have extra content - the Legendary Armory preorder bonus.

GOG did not have preorder parity for this game, which is a shame - GOG support said that this was a publisher decision, which is odd since all other recent GOG preorders for Kalypso games included the preorder bonus content.

I hope this isn't the start of a trend of GOG failing to negotiate for such content - I'll be the first to say that I dislike preorder exclusive game content, but if it's offered on other platforms, then GOG should offer it too whenever possible for the sake of giving customers the most complete version available (and to avoid giving customers a reason to preorder elsewhere).

I'm all out of ideas except this - have you added the game to the excluded files in your virus program? Probably you have but worth an ask :)
Hey, nice surprise! Just realized this addition to my library. Thanks Games Farm, Kalypso and GOG!

Seems like this one can be added to this thread as well then. https://www.gog.com/mix/games_that_treat_gog_customers_as_second_class_citizens

Awfull job from Gamesfarm and Kalypso. Now it's one item, but still, it feels like you miss something.
I don't like any of those exclusives as well. And yep, people will think twice if they gonna pre-order on gog.
Wow, just noticed I got this for free!
I thought at first there had been some mistake on GOG orders, but that's for real. Thank you very much!

Ilona: I got mine for free as early Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms owner .
You definitely should get yours too.

Try refreshing your GOG account by simply visiting this link https://www.gog.com/user/refresh

If it wont help contact support .

YaTEdiGo: I got it too.

Thank you for this GOG and to the developers and publishers too!!!
I was sort of wondering about that. Saw it come up as "Owned" on the store page and I was thinking "I know I didn't buy that, so how do I have it?" mostly because I hadn't even thought about it being the third Heretic Kingdoms game...

...not that I'm complaining that I have it, mind you. So used to every surprise in life being bad that something good happening is a strange feeling. :D

candesco: Is this then the so called book 2? When i first saw the game on steam i thought it was a side title.
But when i went to my library here i saw it was added there for free, because i already own Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms or actually fully Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms book 1: the devourer of souls.
I only wonder if you get here on gog the same as steam users or that the steam version has extra things.
It's Book 1 AND Book 2 of the story....

If you owned Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms first they gave the owners of that game a "watered down" version from what I'm hearing. The owners of that game were promised Book 2 for free but supposedly it's not the whole game. I'm not 100% sure on this. Just what I'm hearing in the forums on Steam.

However, if you buy this game you get the whole nine yards. Book 1 and 2.
Here missing manual for a game.
