Where syndicates reign supreme...

Satellite Reign an open world, modern spiritual successor to Syndicate, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with full support for GOG Galaxy achievements and leaderboards! Blow past the corporate ladder at 20% off for the first week.

If you asked half the crew at GOG.com what their favorite game of all time is, a good chunk of us would say Syndicate. While the dirty cyberpunk settings and hard-as-nails gameplay did give us years and years of classic gaming to come back to, Satellite Reign may just be the breath of fresh, corporate espionage air that we've been waiting for.
Satellite Reign, from the very days of its conception, was a modern Syndicate in everything but the name. A gritty cyberpunk world ruled by malicious megacorps, and a squad of professionals prepared to take down the system. You'll get to roam around a huge and filthy, open-world city which isn't just cool, but also gives you a fantastic tactical freedom in how you tackle each mission - there is no one right way to achieve your ends. Between tons of high-tech goodness and customization, there is an ever-present Syndicate feel to the game with one unquestionable improvement - freedom, freedom is in the musty air.

For more Satellite Reign goodness, you can also pick up the Original Soundtrack, Art Book, and a prequel Novella!

Return to the Syndicate, in spirit, with Satellite Reign, available now - DRM-free on GOG.com The launch promo will last until Friday, September 4, 13:59 PM GMT.

mattymuc: Backers don't get a GOG version :-(
One more game I don't have in my GOG library :-(
Yeah...

Devs working hard to make sure we never back them again... Wonderful

Trilarion: Charging extra for the soundtrack and other stuff is unfortunately not in the original GOG spirit. Oh GOG what have you become.

Nirth: GOG signs contracts with publishers. Maybe publishers demand them to be sold separately so GOG has to accept it if they want the games here at all. I wonder though how much they would really lose if they compensated for paid extras.
This is game is self published though and the deluxe version is available on Steam so its a bit strange that that version is not here.

Smannesman: As much as I love Syndicate, I think I'll wait for a nice sale for this one.
How is it open world btw?
I want to know that too. I'm a sucker for open worlds. I put up with Rockstar because of their open worlds.

But then I clicked through & it says strategy. I am confused.

It's a tactical squad game.
Wow, selling the extras one by one. We already had Champion/Hero editions and DLC with a bundle of extras, but extras being sold like this is a first in GOG AFAIK. Lameeeeeee...

PaterAlf: Looks good, but I don't like the way how they handle every piece of extra (soundtrack, novella, artbook) as an individual DLC. How about creating one big Deluxe upgrade, so we don't have to do four transactions just to get everything?
You could just buy all of them at the same time...
What happened to the Good Old (free) Goodies?

Yes, I realised that. I'm asking about how it can be open world.
Really excited to see Satellite Reign launched; looking forward to diving in.

I'm curious how the paid extras trend is going - does it really pay off to author a prequel novella that costs ~$4? I wish some developer would publish sales statistics on the supplemental goodies.

From what I read about the game (while I was a backer, I didn't played alpha and beta), your team is evolving in a city, where you can have missions as you will.

I'm OK with this model rather than the Hero/Champion/Whatever editions. Also as a backer I understand why they would feel like they would cheat us if they gave them away. I think though the prices are a little high. When I back I realize I may be paying more for some stuff mainly because I am backing the game to become a reality.

What does get my goat is the way the gog key situation went down. The answer they gave was that they couldn't give gog keys because they had already given Steam keys. I've always wondered if they really lose that many sales because of extra keys given to backers? And if that isn't the issue, what is?

Interesting! So you get to walk around the whole city at your leisure? And pick up missions RPG style? Is that how it works?

Sorry about all the questions, but my curiosity has been aroused.

Uhuhuhuhuhu, aroused.

You're welcome! In fact, it is pretty hard for me to try to answer because while I really want to play the game now (it is the second most anticipated KS I backed, after Tides of Numenera), but I don't have the time these days :(
And gathering informations increases the temptation... ^^

I do hope a beta tester will answer better than me.

This would have been an instabuy if I hadn't backed it on Kickstarter.

I didn't want to play it until it was released, so I can't make any comments on it yet. This will be a game I play right away.

Those statistics will come eventually... along with this type of transaction disappearing, or at least becoming a lot less frequent.

Whenever somebody comes up with a retarded scheme to fleece people, it never lasts long, but it does last enough to sully a couple of games for you.

Remember the DLC hysteria, along with digital salesmen being inserted INTO the main game *cough* Dragon Age *cough*.

I bought the Collector's Edition. Nothing else. And I played through the WHOLE thing. Connected to their servers all the time.

It can be done, if you refuse to bend over.
