juliusborisov: It's an off-topic talk. and here will be my only post about this here

No posts by Goral and DogMeat or anyone else about PST:EE and Beamdog have been ever deleted on Steam. No bans have been given on Steam and on the Beamdog forum, other than the ones for direct violations of the site rules.

All those comments/posts with negative reviews about SoD are still there, on Steam and on the Beamdog forum.
I'm confused.

If they aren't commiting direct violations of the site rules why would they get deleted?

Exactly. This is why posts that don't contain violations of the site rules haven't been deleted, and this why users who don't commit serious offences haven't been banned.

Oh shit I'm sorry, you were countering his claim! Missed that! :P

Well DogMeat is a dick. I wouldn't worry about him.

Because Beamdog is the parasite of the industry. And no, my posts weren't off-topic, I've posted the comparison in threads where people where asking for comparison / what's new, it couldn't be more on-topic than this. I was trying to be objective when I've posted the comparison (check the link), and the reader could have drawn his own conclusion e.g. whether Steam achievements are pointless or not (to me they are).

That isn't a very good example. I believe this is something a little more concrete, though screenshots aren't here for convincing and there's a tiny bit of bias in the posts, there is talk from a former mod: https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/trolling_and_censorship_in_the_beamdog_forum/page1

I apologize for maybe forcing something out of you that I shouldn't given your job, but would you like to explain this? Have you ever seen this take place?

nightcraw1er.488: That is how the Beamdog forums work. If you are critical of anything in the EE versions and the "expansion", you get attacked by trolls. Beamdog sits by and let it happen. If you try to dish something back, against the personal attacks and the like, the admins step in an issue a warning to you.

Skysect: Many years ago, when Beamdog started, I was a voluntary mod on their forum. I can confirm several people were banned, not for any rule violations, but simply because they complained that the forum rules applied to some and not to others. Afterwards the individual(s) doing the banning spread lies as to why these people were banned. We lost some great fans because of this, but no one dared say anything.

I retired shortly afterwards as it was clear strange things were going on, both on the forum and the direction in which the games were going.
Yeah, it seems like everyone is lying except for Beamdog, lol.

I wasn't a moderator at the time mentioned in that "former mod"'s post. I will look into things (it will require some time) and return to you.

As for the OP in that thread, the user reported being trolled by another forumite, we took actions and in the end any violation was stopped, this another forumite was warned. But the user from the OP continued to think they were trolled by another forumite and created a thread about "how to troll on the forum and get away with that". We had a discussion with that user, explaining stuff, but in the end, it seems, the user decided to leave the forum.

Am I the only one getting a "Plague On Both Your Houses" attitude toward this whole discussion?
Seems to be degenerating very quickly into the classic definition of a internet argument:Two gangs of over the top idiots yelling at each other.

Ah, I see! Thank you very much, it's nice to get a little bit of clarification on stuff like this.

You're not and it is, a lot of GOG users have what one would call a feud with Beamdog and every thread about them tends to devolve or unravel in some way. I'm just trying to get a little info from it all.

I find it irritating that no GOG representative had posted here to clear confusion and addressing issues.

Regarding the original PST being provided with the Enhanced Edition, nothing has been done to make things clear.
Here's what GOG did wrong or failed to communicate.
- It's an information that could have been worded directly without leaving doubt, but instead it was written in a way that it's vague. One could argue that was done on purpose.
- It was also non clearly stated what would happen if the customers already have the product in their account. Another information GOG should have provided. Under no circumstances a store is allowed to not provide a product the customer had purchased (news and game's page state that you'll get original and enhanced edition) without letting him know beforhand. Steam, for instance, inform you before checkout.
- As I also stated, for all the previous Enhanced Edition on GOG ( similar product from the same developer/publisher, the same exact situation ), GOG had always provided a gift code, so unless it was clearly state otherwise it should be safe to assume that it would be the case this time too. Customers expect behavior based on previous experience, if something changes in the way a store behave it should be its own responsability to properly inform of that change.
- Part of what is purchased is not delivered and that's a great disservice and plain dishonest.

Now, I don't see GOG act actively (or even reply on the forum) to fix this issue. Apart from dealing with support on each user that request it, the obvious and easy solution would be to improve the communication. This can be done by fixing the wording on the game page by clearly stating how the original PST will be provided (added to the user's account and not with a key) and by adding a warning on checkout.
That said, if the original game is not provided there's clearly an issue about the price as some users won't get the same value for the same money spent.

Look, there is plenty of reason to criticize Beamdog..they have made more then their share of mistakes....but this blood feud with them that some GOGers have is just plain silly.

Yeah they just get banned right you lying fuck?

I remember the shit that went down. Posters vanished along with all of their posts. If anyone asked what happened to them well... they were 'known trolls'.
