MarkoH01: It's Amanita - enough said and instabought. Damn you GOG, give me a break :D
Thank you; glancing at the game page, I wasn't immediately wowed, but once you pointed out that it was Amanita Design, yeah that's an instabuy for me too.

Even if, hypothetically, it turned out not to be their best game, nonetheless I want to support them -- and it's cheap!

DoomSooth: Waiting to see how the chronically offended will have this game changed to suit them.
avatar
Swedrami: Well, we already have:

1. a severe case of animal cruelty with a bear being strangulated and choked (to death) by a rope or lasso
2. an unfaithful, ridiculing depiction of the Devil/Satan, which Satanists (and their kids) surely won't be too happy about

With those removed resp. changed (to this) we should be in the green again.
I know you're joking, but on (1) my wife can't be in the same room with something depicting anything bad happening to any sort of animal. She doesn't mind killing *people* in an FPS, but animals? That's different.

And on (2) again I know you're joking, but: word hasn't really gotten out that there basically have never been groups that worship a supernatural being of pure evil.

There have been groups to call themselves Satanists, but they always turn out to be mislabelled, like the Satanic Bible people, who were merely hedonists who were very interested in orgies and such -- some other people take a dim view of that, but it's hardly pure evil.

And all those lurid headlines years ago about Satanists running day care centers all turned out to be hoaxes, basically. And so on.

Just saying.

That's claymation, but characters look similarly styled. In general, it's somewhat similar to Pilot Studio animation styles, which made the above referenced animated films.

Mawthra: sad to see the PC release didn't get a proper reformat for widescreen displays, though
Usually I'm sympathetic -- who knows, I might get widescreen myself some day.

But not here. Widescreen support makes the most sense for 3D games that already have an extensive landscape, and widescreen support largely just means changing the simulated camera lens into a panoramic aperture and then doing QA on that option.

But on hand-drawn art? Widescreen support would mean an artist drawing brand new art to fill the new space on the left and right. That's a significant amount of labor for the very small widescreen market.

And worse, *this* game doesn't even fill today's standard 1920x1080 monitors. The art is just a square that is much shorter and narrower than that.

That art is resting on a background of scattered leaves all in green. It wouldn't be a lot of labor to extend *that* further to the right and left, but it also would make very little ergonomic or aesthetic difference.

juraj.obchod: This one has Czech audio, too.
avatar
MarkoH01: You are sure that it is Czech? I just palyed about an hour of it and it sounded like gibberish to me.
That's the best part of all for me.
It is sound just like another game gibberish. But the gibberish are correct Czech worlds with a little funny accent.
It is game with funny dubbing for people from Czech Republic, like me.
And it is game with funny game gibberish and picture bubbles for all people around the world.

For me one of the best made in game localization ever.
The idea is just great = )

shmerl: Good to finally see them returning to Linux releases and getting rid of using Adobe Air...
Did they really get rid of that trash? That's a big nice step forward.
Do you know if they have ported (or willing to do so) their previous games to their new engine? I remember Machinarium used to be a real pain at some points in my old laptop.

I've read they had some plans, but I'm not sure if they are actually doing it:

Never would have guessed it's an actual language. Sorry for calling Czech language gibberish then ;)

No sorry needed.
I guess that was the intention of developers.
Create good gibberish but with real meaning.
Something like baby-gibberish where only parents understand and others try to catch it from pictures =)

We can't always satisfy everyone. In real life people do kill animal for food or self defense and some games did depict it as part of the story. If the entire entertainment media cater to G and PG rating people going to get sick of them real quick. Hell, even in Australia most Australians don't give a damn if a bunny rabbit is killed in movie or game because that animal is a huge pest and headache there. This is just like people who scream "Animal cruelty!" on videos of wild predators in Africa eating their prey. What? Are they going to shoo the lions away and everything going to be hunkydory?

Satanists on the other hand are weird bunch. They claimed that they're not related with Christianity's satan so I got confused why they call themselves church of satan. If they really want to be an atheist then commit to it rather than using satan just to provoke a reaction from religionists. It felt so juvenile and high school level of petty.

People that worship God are a weird bunch. Catholics, Cat-holics, Protestants, Lutherans, Episcopalians, Baptists, Southern Baptists, and all of the other denominations don't agree on everything having to do with God. They all seem to think the other groups are going to Hell. Feels juvenile and petty.

If people can worship God in different ways then I don't see why it's not possible to worship anything else in different ways.
