The great evil war.

NecroVision and NecroVision: Lost Company are now available, DRM-free on GOG.com. Get them now 66% off each or together for 80% off.
Many evils are born of war: Death, destruction, despair, demons. That's right, while we were too busy fighting each other during WWI, an army of demonic undead emerged from the darkness to tear everyone apart. Thankfully, you can shoot them back into their black hole, first as a heroic American Soldier in NecroVision and then as a German trooper in the prequel NevroVision: Lost Company.

Note: The games do not support any multiplayer features.

The 66% and 80% discounts end on November 12, 11PM UTC.

Watch the trailer for NevroVision.

Check out NecroVision: Lost Company in motion.

kbnrylaec: GOG do sell censored games:
Fallout 1 removed children.
Agarest: Generations of War 2
None of these are regionally-censored.
avatar
MarkoH01: Not true. GOG usually sells the saame versions that are officially available. So if a certain game is censored in a certain country it is censored on GOG as well. One example of this being GUN.
GOG sells censored GUN for German IPs? Pretty sure it's regionally-locked.

Actually and strangely both is correct. It's region locked even though it's censored in the German release.

If you want to have some fun with google translate here is a German thread that is discussing this issue:

I get that. What I'm saying is that, with the exception of Witcher 2 on Australia, GOG isn't using your IP to provide you a censored version, but merely to block you from viewing the game (unlike Steam which does so for some games like Wolfenstein: The New Order).

Just reread you post:
"GOG sells censored GUN for German IPs? Pretty sure it's regionally-locked."

Ah now I understand. Your point being that the censoring is not occuring because of the German ip ... yes, that is correct. But it's still censored though which was my reply to the statement that GOG usually does not sell censored games.

Rhyney: The reason why gog removed many indexed old games from the german store, was that the BPJM got a new leadership and i guess she wanted to make an impression by pushing the given rules. The new law was established a few years ago, to also include online-download stores, before that indexed games on gog and steam were a grey area. The old administration did not enforce these new rules however, maybe because they didn't care about old games that didn't even appeal to younger players.
avatar
MarkoH01: I am curious about your source here. Because the BPjM does not index any games by themselves. They have to be asked to do so. There is a difference between rating and indexing a game.

Rhyney: Gog usually never releases cut versions (if they would, many censored versions of indexed games would be available in Germany on gog).

It is still possible, that a German language selection will also apply the graphical censorship, so play the English version to be on the save side.

Sorry, you may have misunderstood what i wrote:
- I was talking about games that were already on the index, but got ignored by the BPjM on gog until the administration changed (I can only assume this, since both events happened ca. 3 weeks in a row).
- I meant gog does not release separate regional edition of games, only international ones. If a version of an indexed game contains a German language option with censorship, as well as an uncensored English option, it will be completely region locked.

Thanks for the clarification then. Seems as if I indeed misunderstood your post.
Well, your assumption regarding the reason for the region locking of several games on one day makes sense since Steam blocked the same games just shortly before or after that. I did not realize that administration changed then but it could be at least part of the reason.

I have finished both games some time ago and I have really enjoyed them. Do not expect top notch level design and pacing, however both games have a very solid length and have some good and enjoyable ideas and systems - like vampire weapons and powers. The feeling of shooting and fighting the enemies is very very good and you can "feel" the physics throughout the whole game.
Played these back then and liked them. Basically they are simple run and gun games with secrets and combos, still have the boxes on my shelf, will buy rebuy them eventually.
Nevrovision? Never heard of that one before, is that a GOG exclusive? :)
I swear I heard about these long ago. I'm thinking Yahtzee did a video on the game but I could be wrong.

Always neat to see decent-but-forgotten games show up here. Not really a fan of the WW2 setting but I'd like to see FPS horror like this make a stronger comeback, preferably in a modern setting.

WW1 setting.
Thanks for bringing those here (region blocking still sucks, but at least they appreared here).

Now bring "Vivisector" please and I think we would have all of 1C Publishing Shooters, right?

viperfdl: Necrovision was interesting at least the beginning in the WW1 trenches. Later in the vampire world it becomes generic in my opinion.

Edit:
And again another region-locked game. No Necrovision for Germany.
The vampire areas actually gave me a very strong vibe from the comic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Requiem_Chevalier_Vampire I remember reading Requiem in heavy metal around the same time as I was first playing the game and enjoying the aesthetic style.

Themken: I wonder if these games are too hectic for me and demand faster reflexes than I have nowadays. Anyone able to tell, do you need lightning fast reflexes in these? Price is affordable right now when buying both.
I don't remember lightning fast reflexes being required, but it's a lot more melee heavy than you probably expect, I remember needing to cycle combos in order to do well.

Thanks to all who answered my question about the games. I did end up buying them.
I remember learning about this game on a YouTube video documentary thing about games set in WWI. The guy in the video praised it for being hilarious campy garbage, and it definitely looked like the most fun game out of all of those shown.

I've had a pretty crappy day, and a heavily discounted "so bad it's good" Eurojank shooter (from ex-Painkiller devs, no less) might be just the ticket. Thanks GOG and 1C.
