<span class="bold">Monkey Island&trade; 2 Special Edition: LeChuck&rsquo;s Revenge&trade;</span>, a remaster of one of the greatest Lucasfilm adventures, is available now on Windows - DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

<span class="bold">Monkey Island&trade; 2 Special Edition: LeChuck&rsquo;s Revenge&trade;</span> is often considered the greatest Lucasfilm adventure game ever made. In-game spitting contests, and the "Ron Gilbert - Tim Schafer" duo's trademark humor are only part of the reason why. <span class="bold">This special edition</span> is the most complete, definitive way to experience the game, and the reason for that is choice. One more, the team at Lucasfilm overhauled their baby completely: you can play the game with all-new high resolution art, voice-overs by the original Monkey Island cast, a renewed soundtrack, and a modern interface. Do you have to? Nope! The original experience is just one-click away - toggle between original pixelated glory and its modern reimagining at whim. Or you can pick and choose your features. If you prefer original graphics with voice-overs (or if you'd like to hear Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman chat about their game for a few hours) that's no problem at all - that's just how remakes should be done.

Swashbuckling and misadventure ensue in <span class="bold">Monkey Island&trade; 2 Special Edition: LeChuck&rsquo;s Revenge&trade;</span>, available now - DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last for one week, until Thursday, March 26, at 1:59 PM GMT.
Yes! Take my money
Unfortunately this is the new version which is Windows only... so no.
low rated
I want a 100% you-already-own-it-on-Steam discount.. but I'll definitely pick it up at some point.
The original would've made for a nice bonus though.
Does anyone know if the different language packs are also available if you toggle the classic pixel glory?
Fantastic releases today GOG. I feel a need to be THAT guy, though, and express disappointment you apparently didn't negotiate to bring the original Monday Island 1 & 2 yet. Hopefully that comes with the "definitive versions" of TIE Fighter and X-Wing appear here (as Seth Davis has suggested things are moving along smoothly with those).

Similar to MI1, I went ahead and created another "original" wishlist entry:

If you can run Windows apps, someone put together scripts which will build "ultimate talkie editions" (original, but with voice acting) for ScummVM using the Special Edition resources as input.

I'm just mildly annoyed at the timing since I just bought Monkey Island Madness, The Dig, and Full Throttle CDs from an eBay seller a week ago.

I've seem some stuff about that, but I'd like to see GOG put in the effort to make the originals easily available to people. :)

No argument. As a Linux user, I fully agree. (In fact, if I can ever find the time, I want to rewrite those scripts to see if I can get them doing everything natively on Linux except the xWMAEncode.exe decoding step, which seems to still not be possible using open-source software.)

I was just suggesting an "in the mean time" workaround.
One of my favorite adventure games when I was a kid :D I remember getting lost REALLY bad in the fortress, it took a few hours to find the right way :P

Will buy this on a sale .
Finally I own the original Monkey Island 2 on floppy disks which unfortunately I can't run anymore as they never released it on cd so will definitely buy this they give you the option of playing it with the enhanced graphics and without not to mention with voiceovers and without. So you don't really need the Dos version cause if you want to play it old school in Windows you can
Man, the "enhanced" graphics sure are ugly!
Who the hell designed the remake? :(
For me this is the most exciting of today's releases.

I don't really think it is that important for GOG to try to get the originals (MI + MI2) to GOG, because:

- At least the first MI Special Edition seemed to quite faithful to the original, when you switched it to the classic mode. IMHO good enough way for most people to experience "the original".

- In order to enjoy the MI + MI2 originals, you should use Roland emulation (MUNT). Too bad GOG can't officially provide that. The originals are painful to listen to with Adlib/Soundblaster music. The game music in the originals was designed for Roland MT-32, and that's it.

But, I guess it is fine too if GOG is able to bring the originals here too. I just feel there is a very limited number of people who are really after them.

Actually, they did re-release it on CD. I recently picked a copy that originated in the eBay seller's LucasArts Archives Vol. III bundle.

Ignore the MobyGames comment about Monkey Island 1 being enhanced for the Monkey Island Madness release. MIM just includes the CD-ROM release of Monkey Island 1 rather than the floppy version. (The two changes mentioned were also present in the standalone Monkey Island 1 CD-ROM release that I played at a friend's house as a kid.)
