Hey!

One of the devs here!

If you'd like to play in a language other than English, which I know a lot of people do ;), then you've got to go to the folder where you installed the game and change the lang.cfg file to contain one of the following ids (english, french, italian, german, spanish, russian, schinese)

We'll be looking to add support for changing the language within the GOG Galaxy app soon.

Thank you for your support!

CharlesGrey: So they sold actual in-game music as DLC? I guess it still has some music, even if you don't buy the DLC, but that's still pretty damn weird.
They do sell in-game music as DLC (which playbacks while you play as characters of specific regions etc), but let me clarify that the game already offers a full soundtrack (which is very good if you ask me - https://youtu.be/EybyugKINho) and you don't really need to purchase any additional music. The catalog of CKII DLCs is ridiculously neverending and if they don't stop releasing them by the dozens, i guess we won't have the chance to see this game here.

...
Thanks for visiting the GOG forum! I was wondering, what were your inspirations for this game? Any other games which were major influences? Just trying to get a better idea of what to expect, in terms of overall style and gameplay.

Not really my kind of game anyway ( CKII ) I suppose, and this kind of DLC policy doesn't help things. If a publisher is selling separate music DLC for a game which doesn't focus on music ( unlike Guitar Hero etc. ), then it just seems to me like they are trying way too hard to squeeze extra profit out of every tiny piece of the game. Same with simple texture re-skins, 2D portraits, or y'know -- horse armour. I don't mind if they want ( or need ) to charge a little extra for additional content, but they should provide some decent value.

Why do you say that? *laughing maniacally*
Looks charming and the dev posting here is a plus. Any ideas of how long it is?

@CharlesGrey I'm one of the programmers on the project so I can't give you a definitive answer but a short answer could be that Mages of Mystralia is a mix of Zelda and Harry Potter, you create your very own spells to fight monsters and big bosses as well as solve puzzles in a rich environment.

@Fortuk It's around 10 to 15h maybe more if you're a completionist but it's always hard to tell, it depends on the player ;).

Well my playtime on steam was 19 hours. I took my time looking for all the runes though. You probably can do it faster if you just go via the main story elements and not want to solve all the puzzles.

Good to hear it's a bit like Zelda, I was kinda hoping for that. And what does completionist mean, in this case? Does the game have optional areas or secrets to find? And is it linear, or does it allow for free exploration, to some extent?
How about key rebinds? Can we at least change the keys via config file? I and many others who don't type well need to look at our keyboards to see what we're typing, which kills gameplay!

Completionist probably means that you solve all puzzles, find all orbs, and find all runes. There are hidden areas where you will find some puzzles that will give you either an orb (that can be used to buy health or Mana upgrades) or a new rune. Runes will help you make customized spells that can help you solve some puzzles and do some unique things. While some puzzles can be done multiple ways there was at least a couple that I couldn't get till I found a particular rune and craft the spell that made solving it easy.

It's basically becomes free exploration as you progress, but it's also kind of linear at first, in the sense that while you could visit some areas even at the very beginning, you wouldn't get far till you got past a part of the story where you obtained the rune to craft the spell needed to get to the main part of that area. Not to mention that the harder enemies will kill you very quickly.

Personally I am looking forward to a sequel (a day one buy for me now ;) ).

As for the question about key binds I don't think there was a way to do it in the options menu, I played with a controller. I didn't look to see if there was a keybind file so I couldn't tell you if that option is available to you.
looks like this can be fun, will wait and see some reviews
Beautiful release. ^_^
Looks interesting, too bad I can't/shouldn't buy it for now but I'm not going to let it go unplayed. (Or at least unbought... It's hard to find time to play the games these days :-) )
Until then, to the wishlist it goes.
I have no idea what it is but something about the art says Asterix to me.

From what I've seen about it the story seems kinda weak and really given the spell system I'd have hoped the focus of the gameplay would be puzzle solving rather than fighting which going by reviews isn't the case.

Hi all! Game dev here.

Just to let you knows that currently there is no keybinding option in the game BUT we are currently working on that feature and it will be released soon!

Thanks!
