BlueMooner: I wonder how well this will sell. The description says sandbox adventure and turn based combat.
Now see, that's exactly what sold it for me. To each their own, I guess.
The only idea that comes to my mind how such title could work it is a reference to how there's high and low magic, ritualistic (ceremonial, organized) and other with more direct, wild, simple approach.

Thanks for the clarification and kudos to the dev for such a quick response.

BlueMooner: I wonder how well this will sell. The description says sandbox adventure and turn based combat. If it's sandbox, that means no real plot or story, which IMO is essential for an rpg. If it's just combat, I imagine most gamers today want real-time fighting... don't know how popular turn based tile fighting is.

I tend to get bored with sandbox fighting as I eventually ask why I'm fighting over and over, what's the point. In such a case the combat itself has to be exciting, something like Mount and Blade, and even that bores me after a while. I could enjoy strategic tile fighting IF there were a plot behind it, a reason I'm killing all these monsters and guards and whatnot. If they're just random opponent #4545634564562, then I'll pass.
Yes, this is the perfect example of a game that needs achievements. The gameplay seems interesting, so I bought it, but adding good achievements, would increase replayability dramatically. I checked STEAM's achievements for Low Magic Age, and unfortunately they are the bad type. Just the typical kill x enemies, hit level x, which only involves brain numbing grinding. In this case, I actually prefer the lack of achievements on GOG.

For example, Warhammer 40k: Space Wolf on STEAM is basically the same concept, but the achivements are what kept me replaying it to such absurd levels, that I'm now over 200 hours, and I havent's even tried the multiplayer.

Until now, I've only watched some youtube gameplay, but from that I would say YES, it will be eating away quite a lot of time for me. But the real test will after I get bored of it, if I'll be be interested in replaying it at a later time. Unless I completely misunderstood the gameplay, and let nostalgia cloud my judgment, Low Magic Age is a sandbox clone of the GoldBox engine.

I'm a fan of turn-based tactics games, and I love the AD&D progression, so the merger of these two systems, should be crack cocaine for my brain. But I'm afraid the replayability of the game will suffer due to the lack of a story.

I was hesitating a bit, but eventually bought it, now playing in Adventure Mode and I must admit, that it's a really good stuff. Just wish that it could have some more juicy animations during battle (at least some simple move and attack), but other than that - battles are quite well made and are intuitive, but not primitive. Rest of the game is not very rich (wondering on map, buying stuff, making quests and occasionaly talks), but it's doing the job well.

Since price for final game will be a bit higher - I would totally recommend this to buy in current promotion
Simple, fun, inexpensive, tons of opportunity for development, love it
Looks like a fairly interesting game. I really enjoy this type of game so definitely going on my wishlist.

Marte1980: It's actually described as a strategy game, not an rpg. If it were an rpg, I could have been interested, but I don't care about strategy games.
Cool, sounds perfect for me, I play RPGs as strategy games, if I want a story, I read a book ^^
Just a message for those interested, but who are careful around In Development games out of fear of the game getting abandoned: the developer is pretty active on GOG and incorporating feedback from threads here. Proper use of In Development so far.

Classes should get more attacks per round at higher levels..and please add presitge classes...then the game would be perfect..

At some point new lands to explore is a must!

GREAT game. Thanks!
I like the old rpgs, and this reminds of that. I love the battle system. I like how instead of camping, it auto lets you know when the next day starts with the light globe around your team as you walk.
My reputation took a hit when i missed a quest. and now it is stuck at 8. Was not sure what sandbox meant until i read some of the comments. A story would make it better, and going back and forth to run errands gets a little old. I am patient, and cant wait to see what happens to this game. I got more than I paid for, it has a lot of potential. Has the old time feel without having to switch out the disk each time you walk to another area. The graphics are enough, but I think your own character should be in more detail when in the character screen. over all, great and well worth the money i paid. hope it improves, keep up the good work.
I am so happy that I bought this game! I love it!!!
