Jurassic pact.

Lost Eden, a first-person adventure in a world full of sentient dinosaurs and ancient legends is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com.

This one dates back to the glory days of adventure games, when stories were bizarre, characters were intriguing, and dinosaurs still walked the earth. In the world of Lost Eden, humans and dinos lead an uneasy co-existence, while the tyrannical Moorkus Rex prepares a final assault on the last standing Citadel. Amidst the strife and despair, Adam of Mo must search for the secret of his grandfather, the only man who held the key to uniting the two species and bringing prosperity to the land. Talking pterodactyls, comely ladies, peculiar creatures, blood-thirsty villains, world-changing revelations hidden in our hero's bloodline - this epic fantasy has it all! Can you solve the puzzles, navigate the strange encounters, and leave your mark upon this Lost Eden?

Make humans and dinosaurs work together in harmony as you strive to usher a new era of peace upon the Lost Eden, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Great to see the game here. I was disappointed in learning this was Interplay and not Sierra/Activision (like I thought when I first saw the game on the front page), but hey, another 370+ votes completed and many people happy! :)

And goshdarn it, who the heck has the rights to Heart of Darkness? Must be scattered. :P
Holy shit, my dad used to play this game when I was a kid, while I watched. I was a total dinosaur freak back then and this game seemed so wonderful... I might give it a run, even if only for nostalgia's sake! I also remember liking the soundtrack quite a lot, though I don't remember anything about it specifically.

Interesting release, thanks GOG!

HunchBluntley: But...the rose-colored memories of all those who played it as young children, or for whom it was one of their first PC games, can't possibly be wrong!
How insensitive of me....now I feel dreadful about my former post.....
Lets try again:

Its a real fantastic game. One everybody (except me) shoud insta buy. Because it comes from a time long ago
where the formula: Nice graphics and look they digitized real actors and than used paint to immerse the feeling
of the world (even if that was made crappy) started.

Now I feel much better ;-)
Wow, LOVE this game! ( :

Still got the cd somewhere.

This is a classic, oozing with atmosphere. Interesting atmosphere. And really makes you care about the characters.
Sad ending though. *cries*

Thankyou GOG. Definitely buying this one.

gamesfreak64: Today its almost the other way : sometimes real gems are released while the majority is average.
In the past i always had cashflow problems :D, the last decade, there hasnt been any good commercial game of AAA status released that i would buy, thats why i turned to the so called casual games: you cant compare these poor things to AAA but they can be lots of fun and the highest price is around 15 euros :D .
...
I guess these days AAA usually means that it's in full 3D, and I know you don't like those. But there have been some really good new ( non-"casual" ) 2D games, too. Have you played Banner Saga? Stardew Valley? UnderRail? You might also like the Shadowrun games. They use polygon-based character graphics, but the games are mostly 2D.
Ooooooh, this is right up my alley. :D
Somebody mentioned the music, which makes me wonder, what was the last game to have its OST included in the goodies?

EDIT: Ah, I guess Killing Time back in November - https://www.gog.com/game/killing_time

Nice release! The game is old but still looks better than some of the games made in the last few years.

catpower1980: For the younger people out there, here's how the OST sounded:

Thanks for the link! This soundtrack is great, it alone would be a reason to buy the game. But sadly it's not included.

I was disappointed to see the OST not included as a goodie (seems worthwhile goodies are pretty much a thing of the past here), but was surprised and delighted to see that the OST is actually on Apple Music/Spotify etc. Worth checking out for those who subscribe to that kind of service.
Sweet. Another good old game. Good old games (just like spice) must flow!

Ok, this game is a half baked remake of Dune with other characters.

Please bring Dune. In its all AdLib glory. All hail Stephane Picq.
You just made my week. This is one of few games left I yearned for on here it's among my favorites of all time.

Now let's see about the rest of the SSI stuff. (Prophecy of the Shadow would be appreciated).

Also I wonder if we could ever get the CD Rom version of the Dune game. Or is there too much licensing BS?

You know, actually with Dune and KGB I think that the floppy versions are better.
After having played and finished Lost Eden, I have to say that "jurassic pact" is a witty line. The hero has to unite different tribes of humans and dinosaurs.
This game has so many "advanced" features that modern adventures are still missing. Pausing the game. Replay old dialogues if we missed something. FAST MOVING between screens and places. Skipping every cut-scene. It can be solved without reading crazy solutions on walk-throughs. As much the critics would hate it, it still can teach lessons in respect for the player to nowadays developers.
It has some quirkiness in the interface but you'll get used to it. Just remember when you need to change valley, you click on the map and then on the sky. I don't think you are told in-game, you had to figure it out from the printed manual (included here).
In the ending titles Steve Jackson appears (I believe the UK one). I wonder what did he write exactly.

I want to add something: the graphics are still nice. Just don't play it full screen on a 30" monitor. It still kicks ass on a small laptop screen. When you watch a pointillist painting you don't stick your nose in it. Back then we didn't have "pixel art" like it's meant today. Just smaller screens.
