snipped my stuff.
Omg, people are expressing their opinion on a game. Oh no. We can't shut them up so let's moan about them moaning about the game. So they in turn could moan about us moaning about them moaning etc..
And all that is good. You really think that Gog cares what people say about the game? No they don't. Developers don't care. Publishers don't care. All they care is how well the game sells. And the more controversal the game is and the more talk it generates the better it is (usually) for the sales. It's ONLY when the sales are bad when someone goes and looks what the comments or reviews are saying. But the thing about PR is that even "bad" PR is good. It means that you aren't invisible. Do you know what is bad for a game? It's when no one cares. When no one talks about it. And usually people don't talk about it when it's bland and boring. So when people are moaning about a game you like - take it as a compliment.
So you are all good. Continue. Lets all moan about something. It's all good. Just don't feel bad about it. Don't take it too seriously. Don't take it personally. It's all fun and games. That's all.
well, to be fair:
i'm not moaning so much as i am a little sad that - as a collective - as people who like games - we can't move past "guy with five o' clock shadow and guns good, everything else bad." [unless it's a nice looking lady, of course.]
and this was kind of what i was commenting on.
also: while i agree with your reasoning - probably the only thing that matters for the most part to anyone who isn't the developer and the player is the profit number, i do think that ancillary opinions DO matter to those two groups of people.
i want it to be known [and hopefully the developer sees - even if the publisher doesn't care and gog don't care] - that i am glad this game, with it's content exists. if my one voice lets the developer [and other players who are interested in experiences like this] see my response and go, "oh, that's cool! someone enjoys our idea!" then maybe that will lead to more games like this - and maybe that will let other players like me know that they're not alone in liking this sort of thing.
so, voicing an opinion on the matter is important.
i'm not taking it personally [though i do expect my rep to tank. can't be diverse on gog, that's baaaad!] - but i think it's important to take games like this seriously, because more games like this should be made.
