Pretty village, pretty flames.

Kingdoms and Castles, a building/strategy game where you expand your humble medieval villages into majestic, castle-crowned cities, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com!

Medieval times were not the best environment to raise a city in: dragons, raiders, diseases, aggressive weather - they'll all try to bring it down. But follow a sensible design, keep your citizens in good health, build the odd wall if necessary, and you might give your village a fighting chance in this dynamic, unforgiving world.

For a closer look, check out this highly entertaining video from Yogscast, streaming a beta version of the game during their GOG visit a couple of months ago.

Forum popping this one as well.
I'm glad it's out, but for me mentioning Yogscast is like anti-advertising or something.
Looks pretty good, and £6.99 isn't bad either. Mind you I'm on holiday for the next few weeks so I'll wait until later.
It may be a good game but it looks ugly, especially in terms of color. I'm not really fond of overly simple, blocky art style.

Personally I quite like it. That said, it doesn't always work and make it less immersive.

Does mean It'll run on my PC though!
Not a big fan of the look, but I love the idea. Going to keep an eye on it for now and look at some reviews. Would be ideal if a demo was available somewhere
Curious how this is different from Hearthlands? I am enjoying that, and interested in this, but uit seems like the same thing.
I would hsve been more interested if they left out the fantasy elements or made them optional.. I want a Medieval "Caesar 3" or "Pharoah" city builder. It is not that I dislike Fantasy strategy games...I love "Majesty" and "Age of Wonders",,,I just like my city builders to be rooted in history.
Still sad tht "Medieval Mayor" fell through ...tha was a amedieval city builder by the "Impressions" team...the people who did the "Caesar/Pharoah/Zeus/Emperor ot the Middle Kingdom" games.
This game is more like Banished than the Caesar series. (Hearthlands is more like the Caesar games.)
I've had my eye on this game for a while, picked it up but can't play until tomorrow... xD
Part of the description makes this game sound like a tower defense.

Are you under constant attack in this thing?

tinyE: Are you under constant attack in this thing?
The game start sets a difficulty level, which is mostly rate of attacks: "none" "some" or "lots". I played for an hour (about 15 in-game years) on "some" and had zero attacks. I did have a warning of a dragon nearby, but it didn't attack; It warned me to build defenses.
Nice! I think I'll pick it up as soon as I finish chores and have some gaming time :)

It's definitely better than the Euro price.
