Ion Fury is now available DRM-free.

While Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison earned her codename defusing bombs for the Global Defense Force, when evil transhumanist mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes the members of his cybernetic cult onto the streets of Neo DC, she knows it’s time to start causing explosions instead of preventing them.

Her quest to slay Heskel leaves a trail of carnage throughout huge, multi-path levels filled with gigantic explosions, more secret areas than we can count, and inhuman foes behind every corner. There’s no regenerating health here; stop taking cover and start running and gunning.
Shoutout to the lack of moderation
Ah yes, the daily reminder of why i despise gaming journlism nowadays ! everyone are entitled to their views and opinions but the current road of Journalism and ResetEra enforcing their views on others by brute forcing their way dictating what others should and shouldn't do is getting old by now, just let each and everyone do what they want to and avoid if you don't like it.

I admit i wasn't happy when they announced that they are going to change the game because of the outrage from journalists and ReseEra spefically because just as with Chuchel this trend is worrying, if anyone can claim to be offended and just that will affect my game in my library that i don't want changed to satisfy these people. Yes in this case it's a small change and nothing that really makes the game worse but i think we all know where this will lead eventually, give them an inch and they will take a mile.

Some time in the future this may well lead to a game censored into the ground one way or another for whatever reason post launch, still i'm happy Voidpoint have reconsidered.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Well, if everything remains untouched and this is for certain... Without any new tripping... I might get it officially, through the publisher. But i feel much better, by aiding those in need, who also happen to be the ones behind the creation of this nice game (and the ones who advised us to "eff politics and get the game anyway you like"). Supporting VICTIMS (directly), had always been MY priority.

Also, had they completely ignored the mindseek friks, no bad PR no nothing would have happened. They are a vocal minority and from what people say, they had trouble with the law, before renaming their forum. Also, their lackeys who launched cyber-offensives in Steam forums of the game lately, lacked the mousepad icon, which marks owners of the game!

And the donation is unforgivable. It's not the sum given, but the move performed; its meaning, weight and significance, or god forbid, possible influence/setting of an example and consequences. We 're here to buy and play games; not cultivate genetic mutations and DISFIGURE said games, to match the twisted vision of unstable loonies.

I will certainly check the other, upcoming shooter, for sure. But i will first wait to see the dust settle down, before i decide on Ion Fury. My priority, is the people who helped/aided me; and those guys are VOIDPOINT, not 3D realms.

I <3 VOIDPOINT
I *_* 3D REALMS
1st bit above: Sounds reasonable.

2nd bit: They did it to shut them up, and yeah they should've ignored them but they panicked(which people do on occasion).

3rd bit: Let em have it....they can't even do much with it and it's all they will get from the devs. Think of it as the dev pitying the outrage mob and playing them like a fiddle.

4th bit: Ok then, but 3DRealms are still pretty decent(well the original guys and gals were....dunno if they are all still there or not).

5th bit: Both are ok in my book to varying degrees, but you do you. :)

tremere110: The dogpiling on 3DRealms/Voidpoint by various media outlets has begun. If they weather this without capitulating I'll buy their game.

But yes, this is why resetEra has power. Media outlets use that place to gauge outrage for clickbait. Just ignore them and they'll move on to the next clickbait trash.

Hell, these so called journalists don't even play your game - at least one keeps calling it 'Ion Storm'!
Some are already whining about it as if it's going to set all LGBT+ people back 100 years in terms of being accepted and treated fairly.

(Some sites say Polygon already is whining about it)

Where? Here? If so, are you saying this thread needs moderation? And if so, why?

To me this is nothing and is at least contained in one thread. You should see the steam forums if you want lawlessness and a good example of lackluster(and alternatingly overbearing) moderation.

I have to ask myself if all the boycotting is worth it.

On one hand you have a publisher whose MO is to bend the knee...

On the other hand the devs who made the game don't seem so happy with the situation either.
Important stuff here about the censorship :

Minds EXPLODE As Ion Fury REVERSES Censorship Decision!

"Ion Fury Game Content Will Not Be Censored
26 AOÛT À 13H25 - TERMINX
Joint statement from Voidpoint and 3D Realms:

We’ve caused a recent controversy suggesting Ion Fury game content was to be censored.

We will absolutely NOT be censoring Ion Fury or any of our other games, now or in the future, including but not limited to by removing gags such as gaming’s most controversial facial wash.

We do not support censorship of creative works of any kind and regret our initial decision to alter a sprite in the game instead of trusting our instincts. 3D Realms and Voidpoint stand together on this matter.

Last but not least, please respect our need to keep our community forums clean from hateful messages, spam, or off-topic threads. We recognize our mistake and have received your message loud and clear!"

End of discussion.

This whole "I won't buy it even if they backed off" stuff reminds me of one of the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition(paraphrased)..."Good devs are like Latinum....treasure them"

If I may make a adjustment to Rule 34 of the Rules of Acquisition: War is good for business.

34a: Ideological War is good for business.

They followed rules 9 and 22, but didn't follow rule 1(though that's likely due to those pesky things called laws).
The sales were tanking that bad? Yikes.

It wasn't too bad, but the bad PR wasn't helping and the refunds and cancelled orders outweighed the outrage mob who wanted the censorship. Common sense business moves won in the end, it would seem.

I guess it must have been distressing a bit. I'm glad I did my part, however little it may matter.
