Interlaced memories.

Her Story, a completely innovative FMV detective game from the mastermind behind Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, is available now for Windows and Mac OS X. Get it DRM-free on GOG.com with a 17% launch discount.

The year is 1994. A woman is interviewed by the Police, her husband gone missing. Her every word recorded and interlaced via police camera. It is now between you, your dusty mothball computer, and Her Story. The premise is simple - scan the database of seven live-action interviews to make sense of the disappearance, to analyze every word, facial expression, every moment of silence. One keyword at a time.

With a completely fresh take on storytelling, and archaic yet deeply familiar gameplay based on simple keyword searches, Her Story asks a pittance for a memory. Check out the rave reviews, and make sure to grab the game DRM-free, right here on GOG.com. The 17% launch discount will last for one week, until Friday, July 3, at 12:59 PM GMT.

In the press:
"Her Story is so masterful in its simple, personal, and idiosyncratic delivery that even time wasted is filled with charm and intrigue." -- Digital Spy

"As well as being a superb detective game, Her Story might be the best FMV game ever made." -- Rock , Paper, Shotgun

"It's been days since I finished the game, but I can’t stop thinking about it. Her Story nails the dark, voyeuristic nature of true crime and the curiosity that follows. The worst thing I can say about Her Story is that, eventually, there's nothing else left to find." -- Polygon

LordCinnamon: Awesome, two 1-star reviews based on the screenshots. Thanks guys, super helpful!

But I think I'll grab this, it gives me a bit of a Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective (the boardgame) vibe.
My favourite one star review based on screenshots:

"Artsy. That about sums it up.

Looks really interesting. My backlog, even just the selection of games I really want to play in the near future, is huge, so I'm going to hold off for now. Definitely on my radar though.

ne_zavarj: Interesting release .

Some of you guys should contact with the developers of Casebook .

devoras: I quite enjoyed Casebook also, I played it a few years ago. Her Story was very entertaining, well worth the price.
Never heard of Casebook, checking it out now. Thanks for the heads up.
Looks like Casebook should also be here on GoG.

Bought this game (Her Story) instantly. Looks fantastic. My only worry is replayability but of course it is the nature of the beast with FMV. Hopefully there will be some DLC's coming :)

Oooh, sweet. Wanted this when I saw it on Steam. I'd instabuy here, but I only have a whole $10 to last me for the entire week (spent way too much on GOG's Summer Sale), so it merely transfers from the Steam wishlist to the GOG wishlist.
Quick question, does the FMV sences have subtitles?
Oh look! Another one star review based on the description and screenshots. This one is actually written from the perspective of the huge chip on their shoulder:

"An Interactive Movie game in 2015? by geminidomino
IM games weren't very good when they were the wizz-bang new thing in the mid-90s, which is why the genre went like a bottle rocket. It just feels like another pretentious art-house piece that barely remembered that it's supposed to be a game, but forgot that games are suppsoed to be fun."
high rated

GOG.com: The year is 1994. A woman is interviewed by the Police...
I'm not sure I buy the premise. The Police had been broken up for a decade at that point, why are they reuniting to investigate this murder?

Perhaps it was a ...Murder by numbers...

They have. You can turn them off if you want to.
Sounds interesting. But I am still hoping they gonna release Urban Runner here on GOG. I loved this FMV game soooooo much :) Anyone about playtime. How long is this game?

crysisheld: Anyone about playtime. How long is this game?
On Twitter the dev said a playthrough usually takes around 2 hours.
5-6 hours are necessary to see 100% of the game though.

Sad thing is that people actually marked it as "helpful."
Nice one.

gamesfreak64: some csi things? you mean like gabriel knight 2 had?

(reminds me of good old gabriel knight 2, i got it on cd the minute it was available in the shops
he gets a foot print using some stuff from the barn.)

if you want a game with a sort of investigations and collecting some stuff for evidence then you should had bought
The Elk Moon Murder (1996) when it came out, some didnot like the game and it had some bad reviews, i liked it alot, never got to finish it cause it wont run on win XP/win7 and up.
Still have the game in good condition including the manual.

yup it is, on steam they are also very satisfied with it
96% of the reviews are positive thats what the rating said when i read it 5 minutes ago, so they seem to like it.

stevetwasko: I loved Gabriel Knight 2! It may sound odd, all things considered, but playing macabre adventures like Gabriel Knight and Phantasmagoria bring back fond childhood memories.

I'll have to check out Elk Moon Murder. I don't think I remember it.
it its on the wishlist : http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/santa_fe_mysteries_the_elk_moon_murder

I think it was a very decent game, never got the game finished, and i cant get it to run on old xp, and win7 also wont run it
so i was looking for some free virtual 16bits windows emulator or anything that will make these good 16bits win 98se only titles, cause there are many that still need a treatment to make them work again on modern windows.
I also have the retail spycraft, and gabrielknight 2 which wont run on 64bits, thats why i got the gog versions the minute i signed up here last year.
