There's something strange in the neighborhood...

Hello Neighbor, an unsettling stealth/horror experience about infiltrating your creepy neighbor's house, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Looks at this guy. There is something up with him, you just know it. If only you could sneak into his basement and investigate.
But be careful: Every distraction, trick, or access point you try will soon be countered by the adaptive AI, so you need to be smart and quick if you want to uncover all his secrets without becoming one of them...

Watch the trailer.

Hope the buyers will get some fun out of it.
Yeah, it looks good. I'll be interested to know what people think of it. It seems to be receiving good reviews on Steam.

Played it for 24 minutes. First impressions: It's shit.

Not quite as bad as the beta builds, but still pretty bad. It still looks and feels like a Babby's-first-steps-with-Unity title rather than a $30 game. You'd have to be out of your mind to pay more than $10 for this and even at less than $10 I'd only recommend this to the morbidly curious.

Your perception re: Steam reviews seems to be wildly different from mine, because all I see are descriptions how this still feels like an alpha/beta build (no argument from me there) and how they're getting a refund.

When I checked a few hours ago, the reviews were 75% positive. I see it's now down to 64%.

That really says it all, doesn't it?

I'm currently uploading a few sample videos of the level of quality to be expected from this $30 game. Stay tuned!

Please note that the graphical quality in these videos is not indicative of the actual graphical quality of the game, since I put all the settings to minimum. That being said, let's have a look at some gameplay samples!

Expectation VS Reality

adaptive AI

physics

Constantly evolving experience where the Neighbor's AI counters your moves, and learns from what you do

an unsettling stealth/horror experience

In other words: Now would be a good time to point your fingers at everyone who pre-ordered and laugh. I really, REALLY would have respected the devs if they had just thrown their hands up in the air and exclaimed "Fuck it! This is glitchy, borderline-unplayable garbage that we'll never be able to fix! Let's just drop all the adaptive AI/suspenseful horror gameplay bunkum, lower the base price to $9.99 and sell it as a novelty item to the Goat Simulator crowd!" This game might actually be fun in a "let's find ways to break Hello Neighbor" kind of way. But as a $30 game? You gotta be kidding me!

Hello Neighbor - brought to you by tinyBuild. So expect GoG support for this game by the devs to drop soon. Does tinyBuild even have a game on GoG up to date with the Steam version*?

*This game doesn't count since it's brand new.
Is this guy a fucking dwarf who suddenly walks at the speed of a giraffe?
From 75% to 57% in 8 hours after release. Wow.
..
OK now I read a bit on the forums and understand why. Starting with what you learn in film school is the cardinal sin how to not end your story down to overpromising and underdelivering.

Thanks for the warnings guys, I 'll carefully not withlist this.

AlienMind: the cardinal sin how to not end your story down to overpromising and underdelivering.
I remember a quote from a business book I read a long time ago. "Only promise what you can deliver. And then deliver more than you promise."
Warning ! Ending spoiler inside !
