A saucy tale both sweet and sour.


Heart of China is now available DRM-free, only on GOG.com.
A cinematic point-and-click adventure set in 1930s Hong-Kong, with all the B-movie stylings we've grown to love. After former ace pilot Jake "Lucky" Masters accepts a wealthy businessman's request to locate his abducted daughter, he finds himself tangled in a mystery involving dangerous women, challenging puzzles, exotic locations, a Chinese warlord, and quite a few dead ends.

This game is weird and entertaining, I have to say! :D With classic Sierra Adventure Game Overs and dead ending!

And Lucky must be an ancestor of Deponia's Rufus!

I feel slightly guilty for enjoying it so much! :D

I don't know if there even exists a Norwegian version of the game - which imo makes your case different - but I am sure that nearly every Sierra/Dynamix game had a German version available and nearly no Activision game has it added here. Therefore I tend to not buy/support Activision.

If it's being sold by the rights holders, then by definition, it's not abandonware (which is not a legal status, just a de facto state). Many of the old games here were "abandonware" for a long time. Then they weren't.

If it is sold here or anywhere else for that matter by its legitimate IP rights holders, then it can't be called "abandonware" in any shape and form.

According to the gamecard, the publisher is Activision, so maybe you should check with them if they consider the game "abandonware".

Now, if you meant to say that the game is available on many pirate sites which concentrate on old PC games, then that is another matter.

EDIT: Ninja'ed by mere 6 hours. Damn they are getting faster and faster.

It contains indeed abandonware titles from the dos days but it also includes games that are for sale and there is a clear distinction, in the first case "get it", in the latter case "buy it". And you know it's not a pirate site like some people think. So maybe they should move this game to the sild games.

But i think that old games like this one should not be sold anyway. It impresses me that giant companies want to make profit from games of the 80's or the mid 90's when they make so much money by today's titles (that most of them suck anyway).The abandonware status seems only logical to me for old games.

Please make sure you read timppu's post above this one. "Abandonware" is a concept, not an actual legal state. If a game is here on GOG, it isn't "abandoned", thus it isn't "abandonware".

These games are being sold because people want a legal option to own them (preferably with fixes so they run on modern machines), otherwise GOG would never have gotten off the ground. I can understand wanting all old games to be "freeware" (made legally free; a number of freeware games are here), but that just isn't the case.

I read all posts and they are useful. I know it's not a legal state, i should inform that site to change the status of this game so they don't have trouble.

About legal copies running on new pcs, i can understand that.

Obviously, you haven't read my second comment. There is an option to buy the games that are sold. The other option is to download the games that are "abandoned".
