What Hollywood hacking should be...

UPDATE: Let the techno-magic of the 14 tracks found in <span class="bold">Hacknet's OST</span> flow through your fingers, as you masterfully execute your digital break-ins!
The soundtrack is 20% off until February 1st, 2:00PM UTC.

<span class="bold">Hacknet</span>, a terminal-based hacking sim for the hidden hacker in you, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Is there a hacker buried deep within you? Struggling to be free while you go about the mundane and the usual? Are you woefully short on hacking-sims that let you live out your digital fantasies, or are you just curious to see what it's like?
Hacknet is a game about hacking, an adventure game that mixes the authenticity of a simple command line with beautiful hollywood-inspired interfaces and backends. Underneath these mazes of neon-greens and reds lies an instinctual UNIX-inspired language for you to master, and while those experienced with coding will find some things familiar, prior knowledge is absolutely not required. Between an overarching storyline, sidequests and twists, Hacknet is a game that may surprise you in more than one way...

Awesome! Looks like a spiritual successor to Uplink, which I enjoyed immensely.
I'll wait for a bigger sale before considering it, but I know people on Steam like it.

GOG.com: snip...
Yo, looking at screenshots makes me raise one important issue: how is the display on 768p screens?

I'm asking because UI and texts in Uplink were hard to read on a laptop screen and it's a bummer as it's the kind of game more suited for low spec-pc's and cheap laptops :(
This is my last Treasure Hunt on CRACK!

it's even higher than Witcher 3 on bestsellers list ;)
I still play Uplink from time to time, hopefully this one follows in the same spirit.
Looks nice, thanks Gog.

I'm stuck as hell in Uplink. I was cruising along then Bam! Incredibly difficult contract, server empty... list of I.P's for incredibly hard systems like banks with voice print analysis and eliptic curve systems. For a beginner novice agent? Whats up with that? Any hackers here throw me a bone?

Unfortunately the hacker in me is so well hidden I've yet to find any evidence of his existance, so I'll pass on this one.

For Uplink, you can just kind of grind some easier missions until you get enough money for some easier missions such as breaking into the Global Criminal Database or the Social Security Database :)

You can just pass the time until some slightly easier missions show up on the mission board :)

Depending on the set up of the server, you may be able to do the voice print login before doing any other hacking. If so, do so, as you won't begin being tracked until after the phrase has been spoken, which will save you some time. For elliptic curves, you just need a fast computer and/or good cracker. Feel free to add some more servers to the chain you're bouncing along to get some more time if you need to.
This sounds cool. Definitely wishlisted.
Thanks guys, that's very helpful. Was getting quite a good network up from using IP lookup, but that really tough contract early really stumped me.
