The universe is a big, big place. A big place to comprehend, a huge place to traverse, a colossal place conquer. But in Galactic Civilizations, that's just a minor obstacle.
Welcome to your cosmic playground.
What is GalCiv? Take Sid Meier's Civilization, shoot it into space, and multiply by a factor of ridiculous. You see, GalCiv shows an understanding of exactly what makes the space fantasy so irresistible: the scale. Formidable scale, from the mundane day-to-day culture or politics of innumerable living creatures, through nimble fighters dwarfed by the overhanging starships, through distances that reduce our brains to overwhelmed, upset little raisins.
But for a game so incredibly large (Galactic Civilizations III actually supports up to 128 concurrent players), it also manages to ease you in with bite-sized chunks of gameplay that will form your interstellar civilization. In short, it's actually accessible to newcomers.
Huge customizability, great humor, and awe-inspiring scale - become the elected leader, seize your power, or ascend to a higher state of being - the future is yours.

You can also pick up extra content for Galactic Civilizations III including: the Original Soundtrack, Revenge of the Snathi DLC, Mega Events DLC and Map Pack DLC.

Maxvorstadt: And are GalCiv II and III bound to a Stardock account, like the Steam versions?

Gaunathor: I've just tested it, and GalCiv 2 doesn't require registering with Stardock. They've finally removed that requirement. :)
Hm, if it is so, then I should maybe buy this game for the third time! :-)
And again, I thought for a second that it was Imperium Galactica 2, and for that second life was wonderful.
disclaimer: I am a elite founder for gal civ III (aka I paid $99 for everything past, present, and future on Steam). If I were anyone looking to buy the game, I would wait a good ~7 years UNLESS you want to pay $5 per DLC after these as well as 2 expansions (minimal) @$20. There is also MISSING from the DLC content the ship parts pack. I also don't know about the registration DLC. I wouldn't expect the launch parts to be included as that was a limited-time thing on Steam for those that pre-ordered or bought during the launch weekend. As to the recommended requirements? IF you want to play on a INSANE (there is a reason I put insane in caps) sized map with 100 AI opponents (an example touted by the dev's), you need minimum 12 GB RAM and something better than a 550 ti for a decent framerate. If curious about modding, open up the .xml files, change a value, and save. It's that easy to mod.
So, which Gal Civ is the best?
wow, great games.
I spent several days playing Galactic Civilizations II.
I have the gal-civ 3 on steam as well.
The only thing i have a bit to nitpick about is long loading screen in gal civ 3.
Migth be other cons as well but havent played it much.

O_o
Y'know, I refrained from making a semi-joke in the last game's release thread wondering what varied game GOG would sell next, a strategy game, a space sim or a world sim, as it seems that's the bulk of the releases... and well, here we are.

Forgive me those who want this, I'm just in a bad mood and it gets a little frustrating to see the same oversaturated genres week in week out while others I want to support continue to go begging. Especially in the light of GOG basically rejecting a big deal shmup that deserved to be here.

Buy, buy, buy!!!
Excellent! I played the hell outta GalCiv2 years ago, but never got around to picking up GalCiv3. Looks like now is the time. Nice additions GOG!
Ditto for me. Stayed away from GalCiv3 because Steam (personal choice, I'm not on a crusade).

So.. wheee! Christmas comes early!

I really liked this phrase. : )

fortune_p_dawg: [...] thick, meaty butthole.
...This phrase? Not so much. XD

tinyE: For some reason I always get these games confused with Imperium Galactica. :P
And, apparently, also with Sean Connery in some sort of male monokini. =D
And to think just a day ago I mentioned in a forum how I'd buy Galactic Civ 2 on Steam in half a decade if it never came here...well, here's proof that I should never lose trust in GOG! :)

Great to hear! Stardock lost my business after the Impulse debacle, but I'm more than happy to buy their stuff if it's DRM-free.
oO
Thats a very pleasant surprise! Did Stardock not refused everything but Steam at some point? I had already completely written off anything to appear here after GC1.
