Is this authentic JRPG, as in made in Japan?

Midgar Studio is apparently based out of France.

You can have a JRPG that's made outside of Japan, and it doesn't make it any less genuine. JRPG refers just as much to it's style, and not necessarily where it was developed.

It's got a soundtrack featuring Yasunori Mitsuda, so I think it's "authentic" enough...

Anyways, thank you very much for the release Developers, and GOG. I was waiting for this one, and picked up the Deluxe Edition!
Looks great! Glad this released here.
More a western RPG made in the JRPG style, so it is <not> a JRPG, (Though like many JRPGs it does have cheesy English voice acting) still, I am floored that it came over here, I'm glad I can de-wish-list it from steam!

Thanks, GoG/Midgard Studios for bringing it over here!
I have had my eyes on the game since it was first listed here and it seems to have quite good reviews on steam so waiting a month or so to see how the game truly is before making final desicions but interesting indeed.

So, some questions:
* How linear is the game?
* How many party members?
* What's the level cap?
* Are there any interesting class/skill/ability/magic systems or other interesting mechanics in this game?
* How difficult is this game?

Edit: Not likely to get this game anytime soon due to GPU and absurd disk space requirements. (I struggle to see why games need multiple gigabytes of space, let alone double digit gigabytes of space.)

Mostly due to the FMV requirements as this can get pretty huge... so yeah cut-scenes are a large part of JRPG styled games!

Those things are related because of textures. Textures grow exponentially as they get more complex. Furthermore as time goes on and technology improves more layers of textures get added. On top of that it's really hard to get really good compression ratios without causing some sort of performance hit elsewhere (heavy decompressing on the fly might cause graphical artifacts and doing so beforehand significantly increases loading times).

tl;dr : Better graphics require more space.

I was gonna answer some of your questions, but I guess not point since you've already decided base on GPU and disk requirements. It's 18.5 GB installed btw, and that's not that much to be honest. GPU requirement was a GTX970, which is just the minimum that was tested. A GTX 970 3.5 GB VRAM is super low end nowadays, so might be time to consider upgrading that GPU and Hard Disk in the future :)

I'd still like to know the answers to my questions, however.

Perhaps some time down the road I might consider it, but it won't be at least until GPU prices become reasonable again.
I'm tired of the stories that always happen with GOG versions. I don't know if it's an error of the page or if this version has really lost languages compared to Steam (5 languages in GOG VS 8 in Steam, Spanish has disappeared). And I don't care anymore, there was a time when I would have liked the DRM-FREE version to be on par in features with the Steam version. No doubt it would be better for not having DRM. But today I'm glad I bought it in Early Access on Steam. It's not my problem if GOG offers less features. It's GOG's problem if it doesn't want to attract customers who speak the languages that this version may be missing.
low rated
It's not really a JRPG if it wasn't made in Japan and by Japanese devs.

Having said that, the game does look good based on how it's presented on the store page.

But all the videos I can find of it on youtube are from the early access version, which claim the game is unfinished and needs a lot of work.

Yet I cannot find any videos that answer the questions of: was the game actually finished properly & fully? Has all the work that needed to be done to fix the earlier access version actually been done by the time of it's official release now?

Or does the game still need work even though it's been officially released?
