I keep on falling...

Downwell, a downwards journey through a bottomless well full of pixel-starved creatures and untold treasures, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount.

How low will you go for a handful of shiny red gems? Driven by an overpowering desire to collect them all, our peculiar protagonist just keeps falling down the well in an unstoppable, frenetic descent. At least he's got his nifty Gunboots on, so he can blast all the nasty well-dwellers to oblivion, collect tons of upgrades, and temporarily resist the unforgiving law of gravity. Surprisingly, he's not the only civilized person here and every now and then he'll find himself in safe areas of the procedurally-generated caverns where he can level up, shop, or just ponder on his life decisions. Could it be that he's actually drawn to the well's impenetrable darkness or is he just looking for a way to battle it? Well, regardless, there's only one way to go from here..

Strap your Gunboots on and let yourself fall Downwell, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 50% discount will last until December 11, 10:59 PM UTC.

It makes me sad that I know I am too old and slow and lacking in reflexes and coordination for a game such as this.
It's very affordable, but darn that looks terrible to me.
Edit: Ha, it's actually 66% off on Steam at the moment.

Hey, You can slow game down with Cheat Engine.
If you can't get reflex fast then make game slow.
I usually use it when a game has bullet hell situation (like last level of The Way) or traps are too fast.
Don't let age to stop you from enjoying game you like!!!

Thanks for release GOG.
This reminds me of UNDERTALE and Cave Story+.
So please release Cave Story+ soon.

Oh come on, theres a difference between retro art and just plain cheap.
Looks like trash, but hey enjoy it anyone who does.

Looks a lot more like a minimalistic Spelunky to me.

https://www.gog.com/game/spelunky -- Which also happens to be on sale at the time.

As for this game, I expect people here will just love the extreme retro pixel look and the procedural level generation. *cough* On the plus side, it is surprisingly cheap.
This looks good! And it's cheap too!
Nerd³ liked it a bit, gameplay and commentary for those interested - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh4dpO6Sg64

Autumn Sales, i checked 90% of all games (took me a few hours)
was able to get a few 50% off or more on HOG(HiddenObject Games)

This Downwell game seems to be very popular if i remember correct.

Wow. It's really something, to see a game this cheap still look overpriced.
This is a C-64 port, right?

We had choplifter with white graphics on C64 (dont know if Vic 20 had one)
those were the old gaming days, c64, amiga 500, amiga cd32, and now only PC (other old games using an emulator)
