Pioneers. Mercenaries. Killers.

Deadnaut a squad-based survival game, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux - DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% discount.

So named because they're unlikely to return. Deadnaut is a game of tactics, fear, and survival - you're in command of a small squad of Deadnauts as they explore and battle their way through derelict shells of formerly glorious alien starships. Though you'll be commandeering from afar, Deadnaut is technically a first person game: you're watching events unfold from the relative safety of your command center. Lo-fi displays will be your eyes as you give out commands and flip switches. Your ears will be the hazy field reports of terrified blips struggling to describe the unknown. The Deadnauts' life expectancy is short, but each playthrough will be different enough to keep you expecting the unexpected. Deadnaut is a game with a unique understanding of how to tell a story through gameplay and minimalism.

Hope you don't have plans for after, you're a Deadnaut now. Available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last for one week, until Wednesday, March 18, at 10:59 AM GMT.

catpower1980: Looks really interesting but sadly, it looks like it's the type of game where there is a learning curve and I don't have time for that anymore... :(

Anyway, glad to see the guys from Zafehouse Diaries are still making games :)
learning curve thats the word i was looking for, thank you verymuch, i replied before that some games were to hard to get into, but what i meant was that it would take me too much time to learn the game, learningcurve thats what i meant to call it.

in the past when i was a young gamer i somehow liked learning curves, but at my current age, i just want to start playing right away with a minimum of loads of things to learn.

agreed, fallout had some small curves aswell, but that game is so old and i started when it came out so i know how to play it again even if i havent played it for years.

The deadnaut looks great, nice GUI and graphics. but somehow i thought it would be like a jagged alliance classic
but in space environment,i saw vids on youtube just a minute ago and it looks indeed more like a sim or something.

Ophelium: I enjoyed Zafehouse Diaries, so I might pick this up at some point.
i have zafehouse aswell.... it also has a learning curve, i think i might get this game on a sale or so, to make my collection of games grow.

sometimes you see a game and bang thats the game you really want to have, like xulima, i saw the screenshot in pcgameplay magazine and i thought: if that game plays like it looks with no3d then i must have that game.

So i bought it on steam and again on gog when it came out, deluxe version, i just had to get my hands on that game.
After seeing vids of deadnaut its a nice game, but it hasnt got that: i must have that game now :D
So i wait for a sales.

cyboff: instabuy... for those interested, there is demo available on devs site: http://deadnaut.com/
Thanks that's more useful than the screenshots and short video available here.
This seems to me by the looks kind of like Signal Ops.
Splattercat introduces this quite nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V_kccpWywY
If Zafehouse: Diaries is anything to go by, this could be interesting. I have to look into it. The demo will probably be a good place to start...

Russonc: guessing you like Sunless Sea..
Oh yeah, just a bit. I figured when I'm into a game I'll display it on my forum tag. Don't have the creativity to think of anything else to put there at the moment.
Nice release.
Wishlisted! Look like an interesting game.
^^ That.

It looks like an interesting game that's been on my Steam wishlist for a while.
And now it's here. FTW. I can get it DRM-free. \O/
Ach, I like it when developers try for something different. Still haven't gotten around to Zafehouse: Diaries (though I want to), so this is wishlisted for the time being. But it will be on the shelf eventually. Thanks!

Same here.

Wishlisted. Thank you, GOG.
Looks like it'll be awesome. Unfortunately unable to purchase thanks to PCWorld screwing me out of my last £30 >_< But have wishlisted, maybe in a few weeks I can try afford it, or maybe someone will generously fulfill my wishlist entry xD Either way, will get it eventually and no doubt enjoy it, and the sensation of tearing my hair out and swearing profusely at the screen like most of my experience with Zafehouse xD
So are the characters in Deadnaut only represented by icons? Is there a way to make the radar display fill up the whole screen?

Just played the demo, and you are playing the role of a ship commander type. You can only issue orders based on the radar display you have etc. The screen is only as big as it shows, but you can zoom in and out to some degree.

Thanks for the info! Does the game run in a window by any chance?
