I'd like to express my gratitude to GOG team, Devolver Digital and Massive Monster for bringing out the Mac version here. Great game, I'm having a blast! Thank you!

fuzzknuckle: Interesting idea... hadn't occurred to me. Although I'd love to be able to tag some titles as "zero interest ever", I doubt I'll adopt that specific methodology, as it feels wrong to me, and I don't think I'll be putting my own need for that above an unfair rating, even if I think the game is garbage (without actually playing it)... and I'm not talking about this game when I say that.
If only GOG added an ignore/not interested feature.
There's so much shovelware (like RPGM porn games) that I prefer to use gg.deals to explore the catalogue and my wishlist instead of GOG itself.

As for this game, it doesn't tickle my fancy.
Great to see the verified owners review score skyrocketing. Really seems to be a home run for Devolver.

Return to Monkey Island next!

Doc0075: Go to the store page and it has a rating of 1 out of 5 already? The reviews I have seen have all been positive so I don't know why it is getting such a low score here?
GOG allows people who don't own the game to write reviews and rate the game. Steam doesn't. End of explanation.

randomuser.833: Can be the 2D look or anything else too.
I can think of 200 reasons why a review troll would downvote this, none of them to do with religious feelings. Maybe Cult of the Lamb released here 15 minutes later than on Steam, and people felt "second citizened"? ;)

Yeah, a lot of other reasons are possible.
But this game is much more prone to "hurt" religious feelings than other games.

tremere110: Looking at the Cultist Edition here on Gog there seems to be some 1 star reviews because there's no Linux version. There's no Linux version on Steam either so I'm not sure why they're specifically targeting this game.
Linux guys are like 1% of the whole PC gamer group, scattered to numerous variants . That's half of the Mac-group (roughly 2%)
I never seen Mac guys cry, but Linux guys very often feel entitled to demand a version for their OS type. Because - you know - Linux will soon(tm) overtake windows as the next big thing in desktop systems (heard that one first in 1998 or so...).

I could kinda understand, when they come up with that when there is a Linux version available elsewhere, but even then the question is if 1% of the GoG customers worth the effort.
But with no Linux version available at all it is just laughable for everyone else...
So how are people finding the game?

It's awesome and addictive! If you've ever played The Binding of Isaac, Don't Starve, and Enter the Gungeon, I'd say Cult of the Lamb is like a mashup of their best parts. A little Hollow Knight- or Hyper Light Drifter-ish combat mixed in there too. However, it takes all of those parts and really makes its own thing, and it's excellent.

It's not as hard as the most difficult parts of those games either, at least on Medium difficulty. I find Medium is a perfect balance between comfortable and just enough challenge to keep me on my toes.
This coming from someone who can typically complete a full run of Enter the Gungeon and survive a couple of seasons of Don't Starve. Maybe my opinion is skewed, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

There is a lot more management sim to it than I was expecting. Which isn't bad, it's quite awesome actually. Just not what I initially thought the game would focus on - I thought it was mainly a fighting/dungeon crawling game.

I'm really impressed with the depth of choice though. The tech trees are nice and there's several of them, more than I was expecting. You can really run your cult how you want to - be as kind or as harsh as you'd like. Well, within reason... at the end of the day, the cult members are meant to do your bidding. :B

And while art and music are subjective, I'm just going to say I really love how the game looks and sounds. Banger of a soundtrack.

Good story and humor too. Though it sounds like some people are upset by it, but I guess that's a given what with the theme and all.

I've got a stupid amount of hours on record in TBoI... Good thing we're having a long weekend here in Poland; gonna give me enough time to praise the lamb adequately!

Sounds awesome, and I'm legit jealous.
Played for 6 hours straight on release day, and another 3 today, it's still not enough :'D
I'll come back to it if they ever fix it. It's already been refunded. Very bad performance and game breaking bugs. I'm hopeful they will iron it out sooner or later. Certainly has potential, but it's not running well on any platform at the moment.

Good, but the gog version is seemingly lacking the fix for the soft lock of T3 buildings making it pretty silly to go on playing :(
