16 bits of fun on the wall.

CrossCode is now finally released out of In Development and is 15% off until September 27th, 7pm UTC.

It's never too late to discover your soft spot for the 16-bit NES-style classics. CrossCode is a bold combination of everything that made them homely, memorable, and just so damn fun: amusing characters, fast-paced combat, outlandish sci-fi setting, rewarding exploration, and meaningful customization.
Graduating from In Development means a complete main story filled with gorgeous cutscenes, a new area and dungeon to explore, more enemy types, bosses and party members, plus several other additions and improvements.

SirPrimalform: The colour depth is too high for the weak Mega Drive though! :P

Alm888: No, No, NO! The colors are too vivid for bleak half-toned SNES's Graphical core! We all know Mega Drive has the most acid 256 color palette! :D :D
Actually to be awfully specific, the MD had a colour palette of 512 colours (9bit RGB) of which up to 64 could be displayed simultaneously on screen. But you ARE right, it was quite the acid :p
Shame it's not turn-based.
This seems fun, almost... "Zelda-like"?

I think you mean SNES-style classic. The SNES was 16-bit while the NES and SMS were only 8-bit consoles.
The distinction is crucially-important for a proper understanding of the aesthetic of the game. Please proofread your copy next time before hitting 'post'.

On a side note, I'm hoping GoG Connect can be used for those who already supported the devs via Steam. Depriving us of the DRM-free aspect of things because we are early supporters/adoptors is pretty harsh. Talk with them and see what can be done please.

EDIT: Talked with the CrossCode devs and they stated things have to be 'negotiated' with GoG to allow GoG Connect to happen; I'd like the GoG team to reach out to the devs and make this happen if possible; thanks!

Isn't it like 15 minutes of work vs 20 minutes? :(

Damn, this looks so fucking fun, but I've spent my budget for games till December.

Can anyone compare it to some (good) games released in past 15 years, so I know what to expect?
This was worth it when I bought the thing as soon as it came here.

Aside from Dead Cells this has been the only game I bought before its official launch.

Don't regret it.

HunchBluntley: Fun fact: While in some English-speaking countries, homely means something like "comfortable, familiar", in most North American varieties of English, it generally means "[somewhat] unattractive" -- i.e., it's a "polite" synonym for ugly. =)

SirPrimalform: Yeah, this confused me for many years when watching American media. I wonder how it changed so much?
You can see the evolution well enough here. (That's a really useful and interesting site for such questions.) : )

pkk234: Looks very fun, been watchin some streams. Movement looks smooth too.
Gonna save up for this one too.
there is a online html 5 demo and plays very smooth
too bad its full of motions and special lights effects and lots of flashing ....
otherwise i would have bought it , this is one of the many games like this few games that looks good, fighting is smooth ( online site demo) .

For those who like the genre and aren';t limited because of motions, flashy effects and lights this is a game you must try, try at least the demo.

Dont know if the exploring part in the cities is as fun as the fighting in the demo , the fights and killing enemies is very good .

Anyway the game is not suited for me..... but everyone who can play games like this try it.... it is a good game.

trusteft: I played the demo, perhaps an hour, not sure.
The game looks good and well made, but not for me. I thought it was going to be a sci-fi rpg. Playing it felt like the original Legend of Zelda game*, in a sci-fi setting.
Nothing wrong with that, but it isn't an RPG that I wanted.

This is an action game with puzzle elements. Perhaps "action-adventure".

*Based on videos as I have never played Legend of Zelda.
it does have cities apparently and the exploring looks the only dull part the fighting and killin enemies is very smooth on the online html5 demo like i said, its not a game for me because of the restrictions i mentioned above, but anyone free of those should try the demo ...

16.99 euro at sale listprice 19.99 euro which is a little too much but if you like the genre.... well it looks really good the fighting parts that is... the cities i dont know they look a little dull , if action / fighting is the main part then you can give it a try.

Already bought it. Then I tried the online demo, from technical point of view I have to admit this is very well done, I like it.

But the demo didn't really catch me with the story, got on the ship and did some basic exploring there and... not sure. Will give it more time somewhere in future to see better what it is about, but it didn't impress me straight away in first ~30-60min.
The developers have added the game's achievements on Steam, and have made the Ninja Skin available for purchase via a separate DLC. Will the GOG version also have these additions?

Well since this thread is bumped... the Mega Drive could only display 64 of those at a time. The SNES could do acid if it wanted to, it was just capable of actual subtlety if you wanted it. :P
