A different kind of space adventure.

<span class="bold">Cosmonautica</span>, a joyous space trading sim adventure, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com! Get it 15% off with the launch discount!

Space travel doesn't have to be serious business. It can also be goofy, or funny, as long as it remains truly fantastic. That's why Cosmonautica is such an interesting proposition - it's a game about space travel, trade, economy, ship management and, well just a lot of joy and humor to go around. Recruit a team of oddballs to take on the infinitely random universe onboard your very own (equally peculiar) ship. Fly around, kill a bunch of fools, make a buck or two, do some science, and keep your crew happy in this FTL-meets-Sims bundle of joy. With a full-blown story as well as a freeroam sandbox mode, what you do is up to you, and choice is the name of the game.

If you're growing tired of the joyless emptiness of an infinite space, <span class="bold">Cosmonautica</span> may just be for you. The 15% launch discount will last for one week, until Friday, August 7, 3:59 PM GMT.
Good release. Looks interesting :)

Looks like an interesting game, shame I'll never buy or play it because that awful childish/cartoony art-style. When will indies stop using that vomit style?

Good thing that's exactly the kind of style I like :)
I've certainly been eying this for awhile! I often love these Sim-inclusive themes where you get to actually watch folks do stuff, together with the strategic game-play and managing your affairs. And so few are done right or even beautifully enough. The 2D sharp and colorful graphical style is absolutely gorgeous! Wish-listed immediately.

JudasIscariot: I haven't had the chance to try it but I'll see if it runs via Wine over the weekend :)

TodaysLoneWolf: Please let us know if it does work. I'm itching to purchase it and run it through WINE myself, but until others have, I need to work on my GOG backlog (never thought the day would come when I would say THAT! :D).
OK, on Mint 17.2 Cinnamon with Wine 1.6.2:

1. Install works, just have to click past some error messages which have no effect that I can see on the game.
2. Firing the game up via "Open with Wine Program Loader" works quite well.
3. The game appears to be running just fine. Options work, windowed mode works.

Your mileage may vary, this is not supported by us, etc. etc.

I'll just say it works for me :D
Is the GOG version of Cosmonautica the most up to date version?

I ask this because before purchasing I watched some Let's Play videos. In one video from a few weeks ago, the player specifically mentions a graphical bug with crew members using the shower that resulted in their bodies appearing deformed when not covered by the shower curtain. The player stated that a recent patch had fixed this bug, yet the version that I am playing from GOG contains this bug. The game has a lot of other small but very frequent bugs, such as female crew members being referred to as male and crew members having their current job listed as <activity> instead of what they're actually doing.

The crew relationship system seems weird as well; it appears the only thing that actually matters is that your crew all share the same food preference. If they all eat the same food, they will love each other regardless of gender, race, religion or social interests. If they eat different foods, they will hate each other even when every other trait matches up.

The game is enjoyable and despite a few crashes, I have not seen any consistent game-breaking bugs. It's just that this feels like the version that needs to be cleaned up before release. It runs well but has a bunch of minor graphical, text and value bugs.

From Galaxy client it looks like v 1.1.6 - didn't see an in game version. Same version on Steam just released yesterday.

It does need some more patching. CTD about three times in eight hours (been playing all day). Shower bug still happening.

Edit to add, that said I'm still loving the game.

Yeah, you're right it's the same version and of course we'll some more stuff with future updates. If you think you can help us with some information, please send us an e-mail to support@chasing-carrots.com
Sorry for the CTDs, but we'll be in constant contact with all of our players and try to solve problems some might have.
And of course I'm glad you love the game :)

Thanks for stopping by. It's always nice to find developers/publishers supportnig their games on the forum.
The recent QA with Victor Vran developers made me buy it, although I rarely buy brand new games :)
Good luck!

Cheers :)

Hi nice to see you on the forums.

Being playing it a bit yesterday and i am enjoying the game hope it sells well for you.
After 10 hours of gameplay I cannot buy a new ship. Says I should "sell my cargo" but I don't have cargo, I even don't have any furniture or cargo hold at all.. tried different things. bought a new cargo hold, bought some cargo, sold the cargo but either way, I cannot buy another ship even if everything is empty (0/0). I did not do a quest besides the "kill that ship outside this station" or the campaign itself. Saw people reporting in the web that they have had this bug during some waste and help missions, but I did not do them.

That's extremly annoying.

Crew relation system is quite rudimentary. If you have the right rooms and they do at least share the same food, everything is fine. Although in my game, everyone is "sad" (but happyness is at maximum and rising?). If you check their profile, they'll say they'll leave, but no one ever does. And since they're all friends and their happyness is full.. i don't get it.

Next bug: I hired a new crew member, a male alien. It's profile picture after hiring showed a human female :) Few min later the game crashes (sadly it does that quite regularly). After the reload, the picure was corrected.

Something else I notices was that sometimes, if your crew is active, you can only read <Activity> in their profile picture. not sleeping, piloting, eating etc. But that is nor really an issue.

I have to admit that I am quite discouraged now, since I have over 1,5 mio, everything is researched (besides some planetary systems). I would want to buy a new ship and proceede with the funny campain. But seems I need to start again, which I problably won't at the moment. *grumpy about that bug ;)*

Is there still some quest cargo? That might be the problem.

We might have to check that system. Normally if they are really sad, they will strike and then leave if their mood doesn't change.

I think I found it, there where 3 items with 0 count in the overview tab which I could dump. Some gems, whiskey and another one.. nothing quest related, but perhabs this was left when some pirates bribed me to let them fly off..

anyway - yay! new ship =) thank you!

what i do not get is they seem to be really pissed off but they do like each other. only one crew member gives an occasional -0,5, every one else +0,5 and 3 of 'em have "entertainer". also, their mood does not drop. the arrows indicating loss or gains point strictly upwards and the bar is full.

They do have every room they want to too, so every personal need is satisfied. They do work on shifts, they're not working more than 2 of 4..

If I could see what they're missing I could react, but this way.. I am stuck with unhappy faces only. Strange :)
