Good to see Bethesda/id releasing more games here. I guess that explains why the Bethesda sale this week.
It'd be good if we got more of their catalog this week, like Rage or Doom64. Highly unlikely, I know, but one can always dream.
Really glad to see these games here. They have been a glaring omission from GOG's catalogue. Now, I'm personally somewhat indifferent towards them, but they are really solid DOS platformers that any gamer should check out. They have a really nice aesthetic.

Lodium: Are People still doing this?
Sure gog doesnt realese only old games or old games as frequently as the old days
But , No more good old games here is just silly
JMich stopped posting his yearly stats on "old" game releases (or anything else) a few years ago, and while I tracked it for a while myself, I also stopped caring enough to do so after a while; however, I still get the impression that the number of such releases on GOG hasn't changed significantly since the old days. Even if the frequency of such releases might have flagged a bit -- and, to be clear, I'm not sure it has -- the actual number is probably within the same ballpark, due to companies like Ziggurat releasing games here in bunches of sometimes around half a dozen at a time. It's just that there are so many more "non-old" games released in between.
TL;DR: Definitely smaller proportion, not necessarily lower frequency or number.

toxicTom: I wonder when the next "No more good old games here" thread will popup... should be postponed for about a week ;-)
nah, it's Thursday tomorrow
Very nice.

Now I hope Dungeon Master 1+2 is soon :)

GOG.com: Commander Keen Complete Pack, a set of 5 classic side-scrolling platform games, is now avail...
Stop talking and take my money!! ;D
I wonder how many game compilations called "Complete Pack", "Ultimate Edition", etc. actually do provide the complete series. Judging by my experience from the other platform, I'd estimate it at about 30% at the max.
Thank you! A very good package for the price. :)

SCPM: Great releases! BTW, the first Keen game was already teasing Quake, in the main menu under something like Ordering Info or Coming Soon options. I don't know if they planned that far back on a 2D or an early 3D Wolfenstein or Doom style game, but I wonder how they originally envisioned it, because it sounded like something ambitious even back then.
Edit: Okay, it's under "Previews", it's a game called Fight For Justice, but the main character is named Quake. It was going to be an RPG.
Yes, "Quake" was originally a character from pen and paper RPGs that the original id guys used to play. They wanted to include him in an RPGish game, but never got around to doing it. When the Quake game was coming out, they needed a story fast, so just used Quake and made him the antagonist as we know him today. If I remember right, this was after Romero left.

If you're interested, Masters of Doom is a very nice read about id's early and mid years.

M3troid: What's missing?

wolfsite: 2 Commander Keen games are owned by other publishers so Bethesda can only release the ones they wholly own. Need to track down the other IP owners to get the rest of the games here.
Keen 6 is Atari's right now.

Not sure about Keen Dreams, but its source code was open sourced.

If the Switch version is anything to go by, Keen Dreams should belong to the Keen Company.
Still no "Aliens Are My Babysitter"? Not a true 'complete' edition . . . Still buying of course.

The last time I was looking at MaGog's release statistics it was telling something different. Unfortunately it's not available anymore.
Disappointed it's only 5 of the .. 7? but hey that's licencing for you..

If GoG manages to wrangle the rights to sell the other 2 on here they should be given out to everyone who purchased this 5 pack for free or some mega 90% minimum discount.

Prah: Keen Dreams is currently owned by an actual idiot who bought the rights of the game for $1500 from Flat Rock Software, who owned SoftDisk (the publisher of this episode, it was not published by Apogee like the other episodes).
Ho-ly crap.

Prah: If you misunderstood, the Commander Keen games published here on GOG today are not published by this person. It's by idSoftware, owned by Bethesda. So the decent folks.

PassiveZombie: Okay. Yeah, I likely misunderstood, then.

Would that individual receive royalties? (curious)
No, the person in question only owns Keen Dreams, which is one of the games missing from this collection.
