Zarfdog: The more I think about it, the more you might be right. Thanks for the info on those particular ones. Any info for Empire at War, KotoR, or Battlefront? Thanks for all your advice and help. It is much appreciated! Thanks for helping out a noob with all of this. With the practice I'm getting, I may not be a noob for much longer!

rampancy: KOTOR and KOTOR II both work perfectly on my Mac in Wineskin and CrossOver, but you do need to do a little tweaking, as outlined on the WINEhq AppDB entries for [url=https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=27400]games.

I haven't tried Battlefront II or Empire At War yet, but from their AppDB entries it looks like they'd both work quite well in Wineskin.
I broke down and got the Saber Bundle. At approximately $2.39 per game, it was too good to pass up. I'll work with the suggestions for porting that you made and test them out later this week. I can always let you know how it went. Running a Macbook Air, Yosemite 10.10.3. This should be fun! Thanks again for all of your suggestions. It's folks like you that make this GOG community great!

For kicks I thought I'd tried reinstalling KOTOR II and realized that there were some very specific gotchas to look out for: mainly cutscenes crashing the game (thankfully you can disable them using the game's config utility). Also, using the widescreen mod for both KOTOR and KOTOR II won't work for resolutions below 1280 x 800 since anything less actually cuts off dialogue options, making the game potentially unplayable (so that means we're left with 1024 x 768). Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy both work out of the box in Wineskin (though you may need to use an older version of WINE, like 1.7.14 or 1.7.15, and install directx9 using Winetricks).

Apart from that though, both games work really, really well. If you don't have CrossOver, I actually recommend PaulTheTall's PortingKit. That's as close to a "zero conf" WINE solution as you can get on OS X short of buying CrossOver.

In any case, let us know if you need some help; there are a quite a few of us Mac/Linux folks who use WINE to play our games on GOG.

you can install any crossover engine as your wineskin engine. There are already several to choose from. The crossover source code is FOSS and on their website.

That continues to be one of the strengths of Wineskin, and it's why I've eventually evolved into using it for most of my gaming needs, even though I'm a paid supporter of CrossOver.

I will say though, there's been a bit of a lag with respect to engines being uploaded, as WINE is now up to 1.7.42 and CrossOver has been updated to 14.1.1.
yah, doh123 has been fairly busy lately. it's fairly easy to compile it yourself though.

Once again, thanks for tips! Where is a better place to message besides in this forum (which, I'm sure, will eventually go dead)? I'm looking forward to KOTOR. I thought I would start with Republic Commando, as I'm in the mood for a shooter.

Thanks for the tip! I'm learning a lot about what's out there to run all of these games. You have all been so helpful. I'm excited to try all of these out.
