Stevedog13: [...] That's when I realized that I have been confusing Stasis with a totally different game this entire time.
Maybe SOMA? Because I can't keep the two straight (they're both dark sci-fi-horror adventure games, and I'm not really interested in either).

Pica-Ludica: On a slightly different subject, I've seen a couple of people mention Heroine Quest in this thread. I thought that GOG simply didn't host free games, and never expected to see it here - but now that there's precedent, I hope it will be considered in the future. It's a game that would fit GOG's catalogue perfectly, since it's a tribute to the Quest for Glory games. It's very polished, and captures the spirit of Quest for Glory very well.
They've hosted free games for years, and since last year have begun offering some demos, as well. But I think they try not to put out too many such things, because it still takes time to package them in the installers, ready any "bonus" material they might come with, and keep them updated (if necessary). Most importantly, they still have to support these free titles as they do with the ones that must be purchased, and since they're not making any money from them, that could be a serious drain if they started putting out tons of freeware. (To be frank, I'm not sure why they bother carrying demos that have DRM-free versions available on the developers' own sites, but maybe that' just me.)

Yes, that's it. The video trailer for Stasis starts out as a first person style view of the game world and pulls back into the isometric style. So from the first 10 seconds I kept mistaking Stasis for SOMA. I like point & click games so Stasis interests me, however I hate the new survival horror genre that SOMA fits into.

eiii: This game is open-source? Do you have a reference for it?

muntdefems: Pretty sure Jemolk was comparing The Brotherhood to other guys who make open-source software, not saying that CRAYNE is open-source.
You interpreted correctly. Sort of a "You want more of this? Support us! Can't exactly eat code you know."

Pica-Ludica: I've been on the fence about getting Stasis ever since it came out. One the one hand, the style of gameplay is right up my alley, and I really like the visual aesthetic. On the other, I do really, really badly with horror games (too terrified to play).

To those of you who have played Cayne already, is this a good sample of how scary Stasis is? If I manage to cope with this game, will I be able to cope with Stasis, or are they different in terms of tone?
I'm much the same way and would like to know this as well. To all of you that have played one or both, is there a way you could forcibly break immersion and suspension of disbelief every so often while still continuing to play? The games seem awesome, but I really can't afford to get fully sucked into horror games like I do others. I'm guessing (more hoping, really) that the isometric view makes it doable, but I'd like to hear from others first, as I'm rather apprehensive about even trying to play.

huan: I have played through about half of the game yesterday and there are no references to Stasis stuff so far (or at least I didn't notice any). Only the art and puzzle style are very similar. I also jumped a bit ahead (the videos are plain .mp4 files, including the ending), and there is short part where you can see the ship that Stasis story took place on. Parked near the structure where Cayne is happening. So I suppose this is a prequel, since in Stasis the ship was in space. Same universe, but I don't think there are any cross-game spoilers.
Thank you, huan :)

Laberbacke: It's "Stasis" all over again. I can't even manage to leave the first room.
I struggled with this as well but in fact it is quite easy. You have two terminals and only one of it is shown when you can see your character as well ....

I posted your kickstarter link in the forum of another adventure game I backed as well (Ghibbous - A Cthulhu Afventure) and recommended it. I hope this will help you guys. I love what you've created so far. Does not feel like Kickstarter it feels like quality games :)

Thanks for the reminder. I just bought The Cayne Deluxe Content to show my support but had forgotten about the kickstarter for the new game. Saw the email but was busy at work so didn't think more about it.

I'm a backer from Stasis and I've heard good things (sadly still haven't had time to play).

--- Ok looks like I'll get the "Digital Plus" version.

This would be great if the game didn't crash while installing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times, even searched the forums in vain trying to find support for this issue. So much for playing this on Linux.,..
