gamesfreak64: game looks very good ... BUT

19.99 list price
only 10% off = 17.99

a little too expensive , it also sets a 2.5 ghz as a minimum, mine is 2.66 ghz so it will be a dramatic performance , cpu will be at 3.2 ghz ( only for turbo boost NOT meant to run at it all the time) ...

moehlsch: I don't think the game is in any way performance hungry. Granted, I haven't played much yet, but it all is acceptable on my ancient system! I'm currently playing this game with a 10+ year old desktop computer (Athlon 64 X2 5200+ with a GeForce 8800 GTS) and it's working fine. Only problem I have is that the engine doesn't offer full screen with 4:3 monitors as it will stretch the image from 1600x900 to 1600x1200. A Letterbox mode would be nice, but who uses 4:3 monitors nowadays anyway?

As for the price. I think it's totally fair for a new release of that calibre. I didn't have to think twice to get the deluxe edition.
10+ years.... i am very happy to read that you 10+ year old one performs well, mine is 10 aswell very soon in sep. this year, the problem is many games keep increasing the ghz

Anyway it is impossble to find a decent answerr ( Google)on the ghz issue

I read many nonsens post of techs claimimg that it also depends on the speed of the cpu:

many nonsens replies claim that it matters if the CPU is faster :

example: lets say there is a need for 3ghz they claim that a newer machine @2.8 would run it cause its newer so i really want to see if a game that requires a i5 quad core processor @3.4 ghz would also run on a i7 9700K @3.6 ghz (base not oveclocked)

imo ghz =ghz especially if they compare quad cores and 6 and 8 cores of an i5 and i7
ghz = ghz ( talking about the casualgames/indie games)

every real good game like Witcher and all other demanding games that really use your cores and big fat GPU
these games are REAL games it is easy to buy a system for that you know what it needs .....

but since i play casual ( usually very poor optimised) they usually bash the CPU and the GPU is sleeping
so thats the differnce between AAA games that are optimised and run on huge systems)

gamesfreak64: Its all about the game , not about achievements :D
I agree but you might have noticed that we now also have quite a lot achievement hunters here on GOG that are quite unhappy/angry if (optional) achievements don't come to GOG as well. That's why I even mentioned them. However in these kind of games achievements might actually create some kind of replayability. I finished the game a few times when I beta tested it and afaik the achievements seem to be a bit hidden and creative - so not just achievements you would get no matter how you play. Anyway, as I said - for me as well the game is the most important thing as well, but we are not alone here :)

I'm a professional in areas like CPU architecture and systems software like compilers to use such hardware. That means I have designed CPUs commercially. I think that calling my comments"nonsense" is a quite rude response to my attempt to explain a few basics about CPUs.

Your "opinion" contradicts objective *fact*, but I see that you care more about being insulting than about increasing understanding of the technical topic.

Maybe he did not mean your reply. Maybe he was referring to the replies he found out using google?

No, he was paraphrasing multiple parts of a long explanatory post I directed at him the other day, that he has not otherwise responded to.

Here he directly called multiple things that I said "nonsense", so it doesn't really matter if googling showed him other people saying similar things.

Gigahertz is not the start and end of the subject of CPU speed. Why that is true is easy to explain -- to someone who cares to learn rather than clinging to the (widespread) intuitive but wrong oversimplified impression of the topic. GHz is more like a car's RPM than like its kilometers per hour. You can rev up the engine while it is parked and not moving.

Yes, I understand. In the early days of PC the Ghz wa sreally important iirc but nowadays it's not as important anymore. The architecture of the CPU itself is importnat as well - that's why there are so many revisions with different speed even though they have the same Ghz.

Quite so, exactly right. Less well known is that even in the early days, clock speed could be quite misleading -- for similar reasons to today, actually, but it's more dramatically obvious these days, now that clock speed is no longer doubling regularly.

Back in the day of 1 MHz clocks, when MIPS (Millions of Instructions Per Second) was a popular statistic for comparison, the contrary saying was to call it "Meaningless Instructions Per Second" -- it was an irresistable measurement, but a deeply flawed one.

yes i was referring to the replies i found out using google .... thank you for the reply, thanks a lot, the reply from this user that thinks i was rude to him, if only if he read the reply better he would have known i never insutl anyone, but if he reads it that way, he is absolutely free to read it that way.

Anyway thank you MarkoH01 for helping me out, cause i was not being rude to the user, it is only sad he read it the way he think i meant it and he might have thought i was rude towards him, but i was not.

Patias: The game has been translated into FOURTEEN languages and Portuguese is not among them.

I won't stop buying the game because of this, but it's frustrating. I hope the developer will add Portuguese translation in the future.
avatar
MarkoH01: Please keepp in mind that those translations all were made by professional translators so of course it's also a question of costs. Don't know if there's a way to add community translations easily but that of course could be a possible option for additional languages in the future (though given the amount of text in it it's probably a lot of work). Originally they only planned EFIGS which was part of their kickstarter - everything else was a bonus.
Clear. I understand. So, in light of that, do you know how I can support translating into Brazilian Portuguese? It's possible? I would love to. It would be a great exercise for me!

Easiest way would be to contact them via discord

You are welcome.
It's "Marko" by the way - I wonder why everybody is thinking my nick stands for Mark even though there is an "o" included - really strange :)
After receiving feedback for the soundtrack as well, the devs decided to expand the soundtrack of the game, offering an additional bonus track 27. This addition has arrived on GOG today :)

Btw: I am constantly asking the devs about achievements and here is the latest replay from yesterday:

"Achievements are not so simple as flipping a switch. They need to be implemented in game logic. Steam was implemented before launching the game.
We need to fix crucial game-breaking stuff first.
But are not forgotten. They are like 75% implemented
Monday implementation is finished and Tuesday we test
We had to split the very little resources we have. There is also support and stuff like that."

I guess we all can live with this explanation and wait just a tiny bit longer.
Todays Galaxy update included integration of achievements as well as minor fixes. Offline installer update should follow shortly.
