Looks pretty cool
This looks really interesting. Wishlisted for now.

Deuter0s: To expand on what gtrager posted earlier, the publisher (Piko Interactive) wrote this on its website:

Now, I can comfortably go towards the main announcement. Here at Piko, we slowly pivoted from a homebrew developer that produced retro mini games, to a retro publisher that acquired IPs. When we acquire the rights to a game, we feel like we are giving it a new cozy home which would give it a new purpose in life. Through the years (since 2013) we have increased the budgets or the caliber of acquisitions we do. From indie unreleased games, to popular games from the 90s. Back in Oct 2017, we did the biggest investment for Piko to date. We are very excited to announce that we closed a 60 titles catalog acquisition. This acquisition we worked on virtually since the beginning of Piko Interactive LLC. For many reasons we could not close until Oct 2017! These new titles allow us to hit a very important milestone of owning over 100 IPs. The list of titles will not be revealed at the moment; but we can give you a general idea of what it includes.

We acquired these titles from a large known publisher who over the years of operation, they themselves acquired many smaller developers that eventually closed shop. The titles included in this new catalog have mainly original IPs from the following developers:

Infogrames
Ocean Software
Legend Entertainment
Beam Software
Accolade
Hasbro Interactive
GT Interactive
Microprose/Spectrum Holobyte

Deuter0s: In short, 60 titles from a list that includes several interesting developers. Huzzah!
That is an amazing list of developers. I'm really excited about the possibilities!
I loved these books as a kid. It sounds like that game got rid of a lot of the better parts of the story (which is what happens when you try to convert a seven-book series into a game and also get rid of half the protagonists), but I have to at least give it a try.
The screenshots for this game and the presence of an actual manual fill me with cautious optimism. I've wishlisted it for now, but as always, I'll get back to it once I've found the time to dig out some meaningful reviews.
From what I've gathered so far it seems like the game is enjoyable as a point and click adventure game, but noticeably inferior as an adaptation to the books. I haven't read the books, so due to blissful ignorance I wouldn't notice.

Today might be a good day...
I've never heard of this game, and checking out the games from Legend Entertainment, I realize that I've never heard of the developer either. However seeing so much positivity in this thread is enough to make me bookmark this game. I'll end up buying it just to own it, but who knows what the future brings, maybe I'll live long enough to actually play it.
ohhh... Death Gate, yeah I remember that fondly, excellent creative riddles and adventure-magic done right. There is just one fatal flaw. At some point a person gives you a key information you want to note down. You don't know it's comming, so you won't have your pen & paper ready. After that there's no way to make them repeat that information. So be lucky enough to have saved just before that and not to ever override that save.

Awesome.

Death Gate is an interesting game. It's not actually that good - neither were the novels it was based on - but it's far from the worst example of 1990s adventure games either. It's a bit short on character, being more focused on recreating the visually spectacular setting, and the puzzles are humdrum. But it moves at a good pace and it looks very pretty.

side note: Death Gate was the third game I ever reviewed, way back in December 1994. I gave it a 88%. I'm not sure I'd stand by that score today but it was a younger, more innocent time. The fact that it had full-speech was a major factor in my review ;-)

However, while I am happy to see Death Gate on sale (and have already added it to my librayr), I am more excited by the notion that we will soon be seeing more games by Legend Entertainment. They made some memorable games, including one that I count among my favorites ("Mission Critical") and the idea that we might soon see these games on GOG makes me giddy in anticipation.
Weeeheee! Yay! Thank you GOG, I've been waiting to see this game here!
I remember reading a few of the novels from this series way back in time. Vaguely remember playing a demo of this as well. Maybe I just had a magazine with screenshots though.
Absolutely awesome! (I am snagging this!) I am excited for most of Legend's games!

As two others mentioned I would also love to see their other game from 1994 released here: "Superhero League of Hoboken". It's sense of the absurd is fun and refreshing! Not to mention the game is well balanced. Though some of the references will be extremely dated now how many comedy CRPG's exist I ask you? (Not many)
So excited about this! Here's hoping this paves the way for Superhero League of Hoboken and other great Legend games.
Hell yeah!
Are the other Legend games coming too!?
