Enter the magical world floating above the clouds that is being threatened by a menacing race of vampires. Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition is now available DRM-free on GOG.COM.

The game combines some of the best parts of Japanese-style roleplaying games with the fun elements of western RPGs. Moreover, Enhanced Edition brings a slew of new features like a revamped battle system, new character classes, skills, and additional side quests.

I'm really enjoying this one so far, the soundtrack is very pleasant, the environments are very detailed so they don't have that repetitive, obvious tiling appearance, I like the numerous gameplay mechanics and quality-of-life improvements it has over other RPGMaker games, and I appreciate being able to save anywhere anytime. :)
Just out of curiosity, I checked the dev's website, and it looks like their next game 'Rise of the Third Power' may be coming here as well as it's sporting a GOG logo when mousing over that game's banner.

Not to be an ass about this... good for anyone who wants to see this game here... but what is exciting about this? Just looking at the pictures and some gameplay it very much looks like your standard (free) RPGMaker game? As far as I can tell (I haven't used RPGMaker in a while), it does even consist of lots of the standard assets?

That was my first thought when I saw the screenshots. RPGMaker has that 'look'.
I nearly bought the game, but then I saw, that it contains jump and run passages, that`s a dealbreaker for me.
Well, then I save my money.

I'd say that look is rather a typical 16-bit RPG look, possibly better on the battle screen.
And there are good games with that look, even made in RPG Maker.
That said, it's something odd, as I'm noticing myself behaving as if that devalues it somehow, and not sure why. On the one hand, keep finding myself interested in such games, but then decide not to even claim them when they're free. Played one in 2014, but I'm quite sure that was the only one since I stopped trying to make one in it, 2007 or so, and for example even now among the piles of temporary itch freebies, the few I considered claiming were all games with this look, not entirely sure all were also actually made in RPG Maker or at least one wasn't, don't recall at the moment, but eventually decided not to even claim them, much less play. Keep wondering why...
