haven't played the full game yet, but the demo is really generous. played it for 4 hours and didn't reach the end (though it's up to you how much you explore, mine, farm, etc.), decided to buy it instead. it was still in early access, after that they added all the planned content, multiplayer and other stuff, and kept updating the demo too. definitely worth checking out and I'll grab it on gog at some point as well.
Cute. Wishlisted for now!

Oh those poor people who believe that this game is cute, they don't know that this game is one of the most insane "open world" games of all time.

I don't want to spoil anything, but imagine a RTS like Empire Earth or Spore (pre release) reimagined as a simplistic action-adventure-game that gets absolutely insane later on. The controls however never add more keys as told you in the tutorial phase but instead the devs found creative ways to accumudate more features and gameplay elements while sticking with the same control-scheme. This game adds so much content the more you play and I even say that this game adds more crazyness than games like Terraria or Starbound does. The only game that can compete with Aground in terms of insanity and content is from what I can see modded Factorio (with Space Exploration) and games that you can completely change intrinsic aspects and thus completely change the nature of the game, like Skyrim.

Anyway, you poor souls have not the slightest idea what you're going into and its really fun to see. The game itself is a true blast for the first 40 hours or so in as well. I highly recommend it even just for the "Oh my god, did they really put THIS AND THAT in the game THIS late? These madlads!" suprises. Its like a game that never ends adding content in all the meaningful ways you can imagine.

You do realize you just have to create an account right? At least the mods are not locked behind the scheme store.

Good luck to this game. It seems interesting for people who like to craft.
Is the spaceship on trailer a creation of mine or lost-and-found?

Hello, you just sold the game to me. This is a terrific, and sincere pitch, and now I am excited.

How does multiplayer work for GoG players? Any gotchas?

I have not touched the MP aspect of the game nor do I own the GOG version yet. But I'm intending to play through the game at some point again with the GOG version.

Note that progressing can take a lot of time and can also feel grindy and the micromanagement also can become a bit extreme but hell goes the game in deep. It really never stops progressing while suprising you with new things.

Its perhaps an even better example of "never judge a book by its cover" than Undertale is.
Gives me that terraria vibe, but also gives me the vibe of a lack of character building. I've been a big fan of ARPGs lately and turn-based RPGs, and i discover magic? Sounds like it's not a class, then. I can't imagine this triangle. Other than that, it looks interesting, though.
for some reason when I click the forum of aground on the game page it just redirects to the general forums, so I'm assuming they don't have a forum on gog for aground for some reason.
"Aground" is the most interesting new game I noticed on gog right now (currently on sale for -25% $14.99 to $11.24)
https://www.gog.com/game/aground

This game really stood out to me because it combines this building/mining/destroying/creating/exploring/upgrade/progression/science fiction/adventure/sandbox type of game play that gets more complex and interesting over time, with huge player freedom and stuff like that. It seems like a REALLY cool game, and I probably would have purchased it at the pretty fair and reasonable price of $11.24 (on sale) if it wasn't for the graphics.

Now, don't get me wrong, I already know what you're thinking, but no, I promise that I'm not the kind of person that absolutely must have extremely HD 8k next next next gen graphics. I just need the graphics to not cause me physical pain to try and decipher what exactly I'm looking at. I understand that sometimes people like making brand new games in 2021 that look like they have retro-pixel graphics for the nostalgia and just the general art style, and that's fine and cool and everything... BUT... Sometimes this is painfully overdone to the point where I can't even see what I'm looking at, or I can see but it hurts to focus that hard. I just know that if I sit down and try to play this game, I will struggle to enjoy it because I'll start to get a headache. I guess some people like me just can't handle games that have a certain graphic style, we're just not built for that.

I will say that the game looks EXTREMELY impressive. I really like how Fancy Fish Games is trying to make a game that just has all kinds of cool stuff in it and it's just fun, forget what's normal for a game. I really deeply appreciate that a lot.

It's with a lot of sadness that I have to politely pass on this one, because it really made me interested. It hurts even more because I've been experiencing a very big "dry spell" when it comes to video games, since gog hasn't had any new additions that interest me very much in quite a huge while, and I've already looked at all the games on the entire website (over 70 pages last time I checked) hours and hours of scrolling and clicking "next page". Just so that you know that I did in fact try... I tried really hard. So now I'm just waiting for new games to be added to gog.

short version: cool concept that surprised me (rare!), really fair price on sale (rare!), almost ALMOST purchased it, graphics are too pixelated and blurry for me.

Thank you for reading and have a good day.

I REALLY like this a lot. I'm just depressed that the graphics are so painful for me that I couldn't ever play this game. They could have still been a "retro pixel art style" but maybe a little bit more detail, maybe a little bit more clear, and maybe it would have been good enough to not cause me migraine headaches by even just trying to watch the trailer...

I really respect the devs that made this game. It's one of the coolest things I will never get to play.

OH.... well actually if this is true, this would have been a deal breaker for me. I really don't like it when games do this. Either they make the mods instantly and easily accessible without forcing me to jump through hoops or I'm pretty much 99% of the time just instantly not interested any more. It's just an extra layer of inconvenience for me, and I can't support that.

excessive grind and excessive micromanagement are torture for me, and unfortunately another very painful deal breaker.

I know every rose has it's thorn, but it feels like these days, almost every video game I run into is 99% thorns. I'm so jaded and demoralized by the fact that things are just so.... I don't even know any more.
