Grargar: Ah, so that's what this fourth orange rating (14) was all about.

JudasIscariot: Yes, I wanted to be sure we had the ratings in place before The Unlockening happened :)
D'oh! I had the scoop in my hands yesterday but I failed to see it! :P

JudasIscariot: The Hidden & Dangerous games are no longer region locked in Brazil.
Thanks.

I've removed the mentioning of Brazil from the list and the mix!
A heads up, but Outlast 2 has just been refused classification in Australia. Whether that will result in the game becoming regionally-locked or edited to remove the offending scenes, it remains to be seen.

Good to know. I'll keep an eye on it. I wonder if Australia will be the only problematic country for Outlast....

Yeah. :/ Based on what I read about the controversy, Outlast 2 apparently features scenes containing sexual abuse or outright rape. Wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being too much for the BPjM.

Aye. But apparently Outlast 1 was never rated for PC either (the USK only lists ratings for Outlast for PS4 and Xbone) like Shadow Warrior 2013 / Shadow Warrior 2. We'll have to see whether they're actually trying to get a rating or not....

JudasIscariot: Snip
When is the mess with Dying Light in Japan going to be fixed? It's been almost a year since it should have gone on sale. If there's no plans to ever fix this mistake then at least pull the DLC from sale.
A little late, here's MaGog's confirmation of the unblocking of the Hidden & Dangerous games in Brazil:

---------------------------

>>> Hidden & Dangerous Action Pack is no longer regionally locked in BR

---------------------------

>>> Hidden & Dangerous 2: Courage Under Fire is no longer regionally locked in BR

Impaler26: Why is the GOG version of Killing Time still regionally locked in germany? I can buy the Steam version here without problems:

Anime-BlackWolf: It is still indexed in Germany.

So GOG does it "right", Steam does it "wrong".
Steam does everything wrong. For exemple, Steam shouldn't be allowed to sell +18 games in germany without legit age verification.

DanTheKraut: GOG can sell whatever they want to German customers they are not affected by the youth protection law of Germany.
avatar
JMich: Legal question: Which merchants are affected by the youth protection law of Germany?
Companies which are located in Germany because the German law ends at the German border. The BPjM can't do anything when it comes to none German stores (located in Germany) except indexing the website and there are no shops on the index.

So if I own a company registered in Germany which sells internationally, I do have to abide to the German laws, even if my buyers are not subject to it?

Edit: And thank you for answering. Forgot to thank you.

Yes, you have to abide the German law then. One of the main reasons why there aren't real big German digital resellers when it comes to Games. It is too complicated, too restrictive and too expensive.

Thank you again.
If your company is located within the EU and you are (also) selling to German customers, you'll also have to abide by German law, because the German law is enforcable through EU law.

So your company should a) don't sell to Germans and be located somewhere outside of Germany or b) sell to Germans and be located somewhere outside of the EU.
