Greets,

Not sure about all of you, but near the end of 2015, I invested a chunk of change in nVidia's stock after buying my GTX 970 to play The Witcher 3 because I was so impressed.

With all the hullabaloo about Virtual Reality, the new line of video cards they've release a couple months ago and now their partnership with TomTom to work on autonomous vehicles, geezus... my investment grew by about 250%

I didn't get independently wealthy overnight, but I did get a decent return on a (small volume) investment in my retirement account and if I knew the stock would have grown so much, I would have liquidated everything I had and put it in for the win.

....but I wonder if there's going to be a sad ending to this, nothing ever ends on a happy note for me, unless I smile.
Be wary of the stock market... Especially in the next 3-4 years.

Oh, there's most likely another bubble about to burst. It seems like for every loophole that anyone ever exploited, it creates a bubble. When it bursts, the people who didn't get a penny off that bubble are the ones who are footing the bill.

Everything goes in cycles. you can't have something growing indefinitely linear forever. A number of stocks can (and will) drop heavily and then drop faster until it hits rock bottom, then it will start climbing again.

Last time I checked, that's kind of how the stock market works.

I have some penis enlargement spam that says otherwise.

You put SPAM on your penis? I kind of figured all that meat-jello surrounding it in the can would be useful for something.

Well, I don't think I've ever seen a stock hit rock bottom (oh wait, I lie, I worked for a company that was on NASDAQ for like 6 days, after a horrible fail, kind of petered out). However, it seems like they plateau and either take a nose dive or shoot off like a rocket.

I tend think how it really works is based off of how well the rumor mill works and who actually shows interest. If the drug companies figure out how to make a pill which makes a man's semen chocolate favored, they'd conquer the world market.

You can look at it a couple ways:

1. you didn't make a huge investment and it performed really well, but if it tanks you won't be out a whole lot.

2. you didn't make a huge investment and it performed really well, but the realization has come to you that this is likely temporary. So if you cash out of that investment now, you can kick back and tell yourself you're a stock market genius.

I kinda like option 2 - you reap the benefits and avoid the drop that is likely to come. And feel good about your decision. You could let some of it ride and still reap the majority of the gain that already happened.

Krypsyn will probably come along and point out the flaw in my logic - IIRC he does this stuff for a living, so his advice is certainly better than mine.

I actually haven't seen him around for a while now. Is he still even here?

Not sure. Maybe the game fora. And the random Mafia thread.

Good guy. Hope he's still around.
